YWCA announces outstanding

Rhonda Warren, current YWCA of Youngstown board chairwoman, was chosen as Outstanding Board Member at the organization’s 112th annual meeting.

PNC Bank employees received the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award for their work with YWCA Discovery Place preschool. Volunteers from PNC spent 100 hours at the YWCA last year cleaning toys, scrubbing the deck, organizing supplies and more.

Carla Baldwin, Mahoning County magistrate and candidate for judge of Youngstown Municipal Court, received the Outstanding Achievement Award for breaking barriers and pushing boundaries. Baldwin is the first African-American woman to win a primary election for judge in Mahoning County.

Joy Smith, child advocate, received the Outstanding YWCA Staff Member Award, and Mary Eileen Kinnard received the YWCA Resident Council Member Award.

Also at the meeting, Ying Joy Tang and Sara Wenger were installed as board members. Tang is an assistant professor of psychology at Youngstown State University, and Wenger is an economic development program manager for Eastgate Regional Council of Governments.

Current board members are Warren, chairwoman; Cryshanna A. Jackson, first vice chairwoman; Kristen Olmi, second vice chairwoman; Jenna Santisi, treasurer; and Keisha T. Robinson, secretary.

Board members are Baldwin, Andi Baroff, Barbara Brothers, Andrea N. Burton, Elizabeth A. Ford, Christine A. Gerst, Deborah S. Liptak, Amanda Sacco, Stacey R. Schneider, Susan P. Stewart, Breanne E. Szmara, Arisha Williams and Shienne Williams.

The keynote speaker for the event that took place earlier this week was Sarah Boyarko, senior vice president of economic development at Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber.
