A Youngstown woman faces a robbery charge after an incident reported at Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Police were called to the store about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. A loss-prevention employee had stopped a woman accused of shoplifting and was holding her down on the ground in front of the store when police arrived, according to a police report.

Delphine Black, 28, of Jefferson Street is charged with robbery and also was found to have a warrant out of Trumbull County on a charge of deception to obtain dangerous drugs.

A store employee told police Black concealed two watches, valued at a total of $280, and walked out the store. After the employee detained her, Black reportedly hit, pushed, bit and scratched him, leading to the robbery charge. Black was taken to the Mahoning County jail.

Coroner probes

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Village police and the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office are investigating after the body of a 31-year-old man was found about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in a trailer in the Camelot Trailer Park on Main Street.

A news release from the village police department Wednesday said the person who found the man told police the man had been drinking heavily and using heroin the night before he was found.

Police are not releasing his name until out-of-town family members are notified.

Crash snaps pole

YOUNGSTOWN

A woman who was a passenger in a car Wednesday afternoon that crashed into a tree, bush and snapped a light pole at Belmont and Fairgreen avenues on the North Side was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

The accident occurred about 2:40 p.m. as the car was traveling north on Belmont Avenue and lost control.

The driver was not hurt. Police are investigating.

Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 920 Dryden Ave., has a produce and food bag distribution from 9 to 11 a.m. today. Proper identification is required. Recipients must bring containers.

Suspect resists

YOUNGSTOWN

A West Evergreen Avenue man who was wanted on a warrant resisted efforts Tuesday to be taken into custody after he flipped his car in an accident at Gibson and Indianola avenues on the South Side.

Reports said Delvin Williams, was one of two drivers whose cars flipped over about 7 p.m. When police found out he had a warrant on a traffic charge, he refused to allow himself to be handcuffed. When he was finally cuffed, he became “dead weight” as officers placed him in a cruiser. Williams was taken to the Mahoning County jail.
