Trumbull sheriff’s office conducts ‘sweep’ of 224 registered sex offenders

Staff report

WARREN

The Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office led a sweep of 224 Trumbull County registered sex offenders on Tuesday with the assistance of federal, state and local law enforcement.

The goal is to visit every offender’s home to verify his or her address, vehicle information and other obligations under sexual-offender-registration guidelines, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by 45 law-enforcement officers from Trumbull County Adult Parole, Ohio Adult Parole, U.S. Marshal’s Service and Trumbull County Adult Probation.

“This is just another step we are taking to protect the citizens of Trumbull County from sexual predators,” Sheriff Paul Monroe said. “The only thing worse than having a sexual predator living next to you is having one living next to you and not knowing about them.”

If you suspect an offender on the Trumbull County Sexual Offender site is in violation of the law, contact the sheriff’s office at 330-675-2440.
