CAMPBELL

Campbell Memorial High School will host its annual Athletic Awards Banquet today at 6 p.m. at Campbell Elementary & Middle School, located at 2002 Community Circle. The evening’s keynote speaker is former Ohio State running back and Big Ten Freshman of the Year Award Winner, Maurice Clarett.

Three Buckeyes on preseason watch lists

columbus

Three members of the Ohio State football program have been selected to preseason watch lists by the respective, national governing organizations that administer the awards.

Center Billy Price (6-4, 312) has been named to the preseason watch list of the Rimington Trophy, which is awarded to the nation’s outstanding center. Price, from Austintown Fitch, was a first-team All-American last year (American Football Coaches Association) and first-team all-Big Ten Conference honoree who has started 41 consecutive games. He graduated this month with his degree in business administration with a specialization in operations management.

Ohio State is one of four schools to have two nominees to the Lott IMPACT Trophy preseason watch list: defensive ends Tyquan Lewis and Sam Hubbard. The Lott Trophy recognizes athletic performance and the personal character attributes of the player.

Lewis is the reigning Big Ten Conference defensive lineman of the year and first-team all-Big Ten honoree. Ohio State’s leader in sacks in each of the past two years, Lewis enters his senior campaign with 92 career tackles and 27 tackles-for-loss, a total that includes 16.5 quarterback sacks. He also has three pass break-ups and three forced fumbles.

Hubbard, ranks second on the team in both career tackles-for-loss (16.0 for 86 yards) and quarterback sacks (10.0). His impressive list of statistics includes 74 career tackles, an interception, three pass break-ups, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.

Indy 500 drivers robbed at gunpoint

indianapolis

Police say Indianapolis 500 pole-winner Scott Dixon and fellow former race winner Dario Franchitti were robbed at gunpoint while in a Taco Bell drive-thru lane.

A police report that the robbery happened shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday at the fast-food restaurant less than a mile from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where Dixon had hours earlier won the top starting position for next Sunday’s Indy 500.

The police report says two males ran away after the robbery and that Dixon’s wife, Emma, was also in the vehicle. Officers later arrested two boys, ages 15 and 14.

IndyCar driver Tony Kanaan told reporters Monday that Dixon was making a food run for a group of drivers.

“While they were ordering with their windows down two guys approached at gun point,” Kannan said. “They held a gun at Dixon’s head and asked him for his wallet and his phone. You don’t expect that to happen, especially here.”

Revis not facing discipline after arrest

new york

The NFL says cornerback Darrelle Revis will not face discipline after he was arrested in a fight in Pittsburgh in February.

Revis faced four felony counts, including aggravated assault and other charges alleging he was in a fight with two men, but those charges were dismissed in March by a Pittsburgh judge.

The 31-year-old Revis was released by the Jets in March shortly after the NFL’s free agency period began. The Jets still owe him $6 million as part of the $39 million in guarantees in the five-year, $70 million deal he signed with New York in 2015.

Revis also has played for Tampa Bay and New England.
