PennDOT starts work in Grove City this week
Staff report
GROVE CITY, PA.
A $2.2 million project designed to give motorists a smoother ride on state Route 208 in Springfield and Pine townships in Mercer County is expected to begin this week and be completed by mid-October, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.
The project will improve about 2.7 miles of Route 208 from east of the intersection with state Route 258 in Springfield Township to three-tenths of a mile west of the Grove City Borough line.
Work will include replacement of a 10-foot bridge over Black Run with a precast reinforced concrete box culvert.
The project also will include milling, paving, updating drainage, road shoulders, guardrail, signing, and pavement markings.
The road is expected to be closed starting June 5. There will be separate car and truck detours expected to remain in place until mid-July.
The car detour will use Irishtown Road (Route 2005), state Route 58 and George Junior Road. The truck detour will use Interstates 79 and 80, and state Route 173.
