Police suspect man did drugs in the back of cruiser following crash

YOUNGSTOWN — A New Middletown man is in the Mahoning County jail after reports said he was suspected of brazenly doing drugs in the back of a police cruiser following an accident.

Reports said Jeffrey Anglin, 22, was placed into a cruiser after officers responded to a rollover crash about 5:05 p.m. at Indianola and Oak Hill avenues.

Anglin kept reaching his arm into the car that had rolled over and was placed into the cruiser after he refused to stop reaching inside.

When the car was righted, police found a burned spoon with suspected heroin residue and a needle on the front seat. When officers went to talk to Anglin, they found him slumped over in the back of a cruiser with a needle next to him in the window well.

Anglin was revived by officers but appeared to be under the influence of a drug, reports said.

He was taken to the Mahoning County jail on a charge of possession of drug abuse instruments. Reports said he told corrections officers at the jail he used heroin while he was at the accident scene.
