Library announces program schedule

SALEM

John Whitacre will perform “A Little Live Music” in the adult reading room of Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Whitacre will perform traditional music from the British Isles with various instruments. The performance is free, and no registration is required.

On May 25 the library will host Live from Anywhere at 6:30 p.m. in the Quaker Room.

The topic will be “Age of Exploration,” hosted by instructors from the Mariners’ Museum of Newport News, Va. Instructors will discuss economics, culture, daily life and other factors that accelerated the exploration of the world, and the stories of sailors and explorers who risked their lives.
