A pretrial hearing is set for June 20 for a teacher at Life Skills High School on Market Street who is charged with misdemeanor assault.

Mark Vrooman, 39, who reports said has an address in Toledo, pleaded not guilty to the charge Tuesday when he was arraigned in municipal court before Judge Elizabeth Kobly.

Vrooman was cited about 2 p.m. after police said he struck a student in the face while the two argued over a laptop.

He is free on bond until his pretrial hearing.

Hosting Husted

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning County Board of Elections will host Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted at 2 p.m. today.

The board, director Joyce Kale-Pesta and Thomas McCabe, deputy director, will give Husted a tour of the board’s offices at Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., Suite 101.

Cops help out cause

Law-enforcement officers will stake out Dunkin’ Donuts, 4812 Mahoning Ave., rooftops to support the Special Olympics from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, to raise awareness and donations for the Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Ohio.

Guests who visit a Cop on a Rooftop location that day and make a donation will receive a free doughnut coupon. Guests donating at least $10 will receive a Dunkin’ Donut/Law Enforcement Torch Run travel mug (while supplies last) and a coupon for a free medium coffee. Additional activities will vary by Dunkin’ Donuts locations.

Missing memorabilia

Ohio State University memorabilia are missing from the Brunch Bowl, according to a report. Six commemorative photos of the OSU football team were reported missing from the men’s restroom of the restaurant at 31 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

An employee said the items went missing between 7 and 10 a.m. Monday.
