A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

May 14

Animal complaint: Police received a complaint about a dog barking excessively in the 7600 block of Elmland Avenue.

BOARDMAN

May 12

Theft: Heather A. Musil, 29, and Etta A. Morgan, 45, both of Annawan Lane, Boardman, were charged with stealing $49 worth of groceries from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Fraud: A Poland woman told authorities someone had cashed three personal checks that totaled $2,550 and belonged to her elderly father, of Wolosyn Circle.

Theft: Lauren C. Guerino, 32, faced charges of theft and possession of criminal tools after $975 worth of clothing was taken from Dick’s Sporting Goods, 550 Boardman-Poland Road. Guerino, of Park Avenue, Farrell, Pa., also had a pair of wire cutters, a report said.

Theft: A 16-year-old Struthers girl was accused of stealing a $70 phone case from Walmart.

May 13

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone reportedly had tried to enter a West Boulevard law firm before two doors were found with pry marks.

Theft: A Youngstown girl and a Struthers girl, both 15, were accused in the theft of $317 worth of cosmetics from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Animal cruelty: Police received information about an animal possibly in distress before reporting finding in a yard in the 200 block of Griswold Drive three kittens that had perhaps been injured. Two of them had been tangled in a hockey net, a report showed.

Theft: Police charged Gloria J. Samuels of North Main Street, Poland, with theft. Samuels, 57, was accused of stealing two women’s tops from Macy’s.

Theft: Two men reportedly left Bruno’s Restaurant & Catering, 1984 Boardman-Poland Road, without paying their $43 food bill.

Criminal damaging: Someone tossed a rock and broke a front window to a residence in the 80 block of Sciota Avenue. Damage came to $300.

Assault: A man was reportedly found with blood on his forehead, chin, hands and pants after having been assaulted during a fight in the 7300 block of South Avenue.

Theft: A man reportedly stole $10 worth of baby-care items from Family Dollar, 4028 Market St.

Breaking and entering: Three full gas cans, a power washer, an electric leaf blower and a toolbox were removed from a garage someone had entered in the 30 block of Overhill Road.

Drug paraphernalia: A woman reported finding suspected contraband after a man had left her Red Tail Hawk Drive residence. Police said they found in the home two needles, along with a cut straw and a spoon with burn marks, both of which are common in drug use, though the

homeowner was not charged.

Identity theft: A Red Tail Hawk Drive woman discovered her stolen credit card had been used at two township gas stations to make $175 worth of fraudulent purchases.

May 14

Arrest: Authorities responded to a possible domestic situation at a South Schenley Avenue apartment, where they took into custody Breonne F. Davis, 23, of Cohasset Drive, Youngstown. She was wanted on a Niles warrant charging failure to appear in court on a theft count.

Attempted theft: A man told officers three men pulled up to his Salinas Trail home, likely to steal five bags of mulch in his front yard, before the man yelled at the would-be thieves and they left.

Breaking and entering: Police at the Trumbull County jail picked up Mark A. Moran, 30, of North Main Street, Niles, who was wanted on one felony count each of breaking and entering and theft by deception, related to a March 20 incident in which two people were reportedly seen on surveillance footage getting out of a box truck and entering Uncle Bob’s Storage Facility, 446 Boardman-Canfield Road, where liens and padlocks had been placed on Moran’s four storage units for nonpayment, a report stated.

Identity theft: An Afton Avenue man learned that several bank accounts had been opened in his name, evidently the result of a security breach.

Criminal damaging: A Poland woman left a business in the 40 block of McClurg Road and saw that a key had been used to damage her car’s finish, resulting in a $600 damage estimate.

Menacing: An official with a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant reported a former employee refused to leave the business and followed the accuser around, causing him to hear he might be harmed.

Criminal damaging: A security light sustained damage at a Market Street doctor’s office.

Domestic violence: Thomas J. Woods, 42, who listed Boardman addresses on Afton and Moyer avenues, faced a felony charge after a woman alleged Woods had struck her and pushed the accuser into a wall during an argument. The charge was elevated because of a prior conviction, police said.

Criminal mischief: Eggs were tossed at a garage door to a home in the 400 block of Garden Valley Drive.

Theft: A temporary tag was removed from a vehicle in the 7400 block of South Avenue.

Theft: A man reportedly returned four 9-volt batteries to a Shell gas station, 8600 Glenwood Ave., and received $25 before it was discovered the transaction had not been authorized.

May 15

Assault/criminal damaging: A Willow Drive man alleged his girlfriend threw several punches at him but missed, then punched and damaged part of a wall during an argument related to text messages the victim had received.

Harassment: A man reportedly left four harassing voicemail messages at WKBN-TV 27, 3930 Sunset Blvd., in which he asked employees to help him get his driver’s license returned.

Theft: A Sugartree Drive man told police he had written a $20 check to receive house-cleaning services that were never rendered.

Theft: A 15-year-old Warren girl was accused of stealing about $283 worth of merchandise from Macy’s.

Felonious assault: A Shields Road woman told authorities three women jumped her and struck the accuser multiple times with a tire tool during a fight. The victim suffered heavy swelling as well as several cuts and bumps.

Menacing: A man who owns a Leighton Avenue home said he felt threatened by a tenant’s actions and comments after having served an eviction notice to the tenant and his family.

Animal cruelty: A man alleged a neighbor has been using an air rifle to shoot at squirrels, chipmunks and other wild animals in Boardman Park and near the neighbor’s home.

Theft by deception: A Boardman man told authorities that he and his wife had paid $4,300 to book a vacation to Aruba via an online company before his wife decided to cancel the trip and was given options for arranging another trip. The couple later found out, however, that the booking number with which they were provided was phony and that neither of their names was in the computer system, they further alleged.

Assault: A Risher Road woman alleged a man had pushed her against a wall and grabbed the accuser’s throat after a prolonged argument between them over the phone.

Aggravated menacing: An operator with a Southwestern Run Drive medical center reported a patient’s sister threatened to shoot the accuser and others there after having become upset regarding her brother’s appointment.

Misuse of a credit card: A West Boulevard woman told police that after having loaned her debit card to someone several weeks ago to buy gasoline, she checked her account’s balance and saw that it was empty.

May 16

Arrest: While answering a possible burglary call on Westview Drive, officers arrested Amy M. Niddel of Market Street, Boardman, on charges of violating a protection order, failure to comply with police and obstructing official business after alleging Niddel, 37, had left in her car and initially refused to pull over for them. She also was at the residence in violation of the order, a report showed.
