Akron Ellet 6, Howland 0

The second-seeded Tigers were upset in a sectional final by seventh-seeded Ellet. Starting pitcher Michael Massucci went just 31/3 innings, allowing six runs, only three of which were earned and five hits. Keith Rounds, Frank Rappach, Parker Hayden and Dylan Beasom each registered one hit for Howland, Hayden’s hit being a double.

REGULAR SEASON

McDonald 13, Mathews 4

Every McDonald batter had a base hit, and all but one had multiple base hits in a 18-hit blowout win for the Blue Devils. Dylan Portolese was 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI while Nate Ifft was 3-for-5 with three runs as well. Joey Sudol went 2-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored while Nick Shiley, Joey Celli, Zach Nolf, Dale Wolford all had two hits each in the win. Ian DeGaten, Dillon Canter, Daniel Canter and Jordan Brown each singled for the Mustangs.

Mineral Ridge 13, Waterloo 3

Taylor Squiric went 4-for-4 in the win while Jacob Carfolo went 3-for-5 and Koby Zupko went 2-for-4. Jacob Rhodes went four innings on the mound for the win, striking out seven.

Lisbon 6, Warren JFK 5, 10 innings

Colin Sweeney went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI while Marcus Nenichica went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for the Blue Devils (18-5). Ryan Galle went 3-for-5 with two runs scored for the Eagles.

Western Reserve 9, East Canton 9 Suspended

The district semifinal game was suspended because of darkness after five innings and will be completed today at 5 p.m. No admission fee will be charged. The district championship game has been postponed until Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Jeff Martig, Western Reserve athletic director, says next year’s tournament doubleheader will begin earlier than 4:30 p.m. to avoid a repeat.

St. Thomas Aquinas 8, Lisbon 7

Devyn Flory knocked in five runs off two hits for Lisbon. She hit a home run. St. Thomas Aquinas scored the deciding two runs in the sixth inning. St. Thomas Aquinas awaits the winner of the Western Reserve-East Canton game.

McDonald 8, Bristol 4

McDonald led by six until Bristol got four runs in the sixth. Hannah Donkers knocked in three runs on three hits. Olivia Sanson, Kendra Kelly and Megan Ward each added a double. Cheyenne Titus struck out 12 to get the win for the Blue Devils. Lexi Swiger hit a two-run single for Bristol. McDonald will play Mathews in today’s district final at Candlelite Knolls.

In a tuneup for upcoming postseason games, Bailey Byers’ RBI double in the seventh inning walked it off for the Warriors (21-4). Kelsey Byers picked up the win, pitching two innings of relief while starter Kylie Coffelt struck out five and allowed two hits in five innings. Caragyn Yanek went the distance in the loss for the Raiders (16-4), working around 10 hits and striking out two.

Kalli Gross threw a two-hitter for the Cardinals. Chloe Cruz had three hits, including a solo home run. Maura Kennedy also had three hits for Canfield, including a double. Ashley Cornelius and Sarah Murray each hit a single for Boardman.
