Regular season

Canfield 8-10, Uniontown Lake 7-6

Ally Sammarco singled three times and drove in Savannah Maass with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh in the first game of a doubleheader. Kaili Gross also had two hits including two doubles and three RBIs. Maura Kennedy’s three hits, included a double, and she drove in two runs. Bridget Durkin (12-3) got the win. The Cardinals trailed 5-1 in the second game after just two innings and 6-2 entering the bottom of the fifth, but scored three times in the fifth and five times in the sixth to complete the sweep. Jenna Gibson and Sidney Lambert each had three hits including a double and both drove in two runs for Canfield (18-4). Gross (6-1) got the win with a four-hitter. The Cardinals host Boardman Monday at 5 p.m. in a regular-season makeup game. Both teams are Solon District qualifiers.

Chagrin Falls 11, South Range 3

The Tigers used a seven-run third inning to take care of the Raiders. Cole Newbauer and Adam Benko each had two hits for Chagrin Falls, Colin Kennedy had a double and Max Faulds drove in two runs. Jack Bajerski had two hits for South Range (17-6).

Mentor Lake Catholic 3, West Branch 1

Austin Mora had four hits for Lake Catholic (18-7). For the Warriors (19-8), Jake Lyons’ two hits included a double.

Warren JFK 4, St. Thomas Aquinas 0

Ryan Lee and Ian Hadley each drove in a run for the Eagles.

Regular season

Massillon Perry 3-5, Champion 2-0

The Golden Flashes (24-2), who are ranked second in the state poll for Division III teams, suffered their first losses of the season. In the first game, the Panthers’ Makenna Durieux (14-1) struck out six and walked three in tossing a three-hitter. Durieux and Nikki Saibene doubled. Allison Smith (7-1) struck out six and walked noe. She also doubled and drove in both runs. McKenzie Zigmont also doubled. In the second game, Durieux’s two hits included a double. Maddie Snyder and Kim Borck also doubled for the Panthers (22-4).

Hubbard 9, Mathews 0

Addy Jarvis tossed a no-hitter, striking out 14 and walking one. Jarvis, Athena Smith and Hannah Kist each had two hits while Ruth Sandberg doubled. She and Annie Zagorec each drove in two runs.

Brookfield 12, Newton Falls 6

Bailey Drapola hit a three-run homer and Lauren Pesa added a two-run shot in the Warriors’ victory. Drapola also had a single and a double for Brookfield. Ella Simcox also collected three hits and Pesa, Kenzie Drapola, Gabby Schiska and Chloe Willrich each had two hits. Simcox had a double. Pesa, Bailey Drapola, Simcox and Willrich each drove in three runs. Halli Stamm and Kelli Harrah each had two hits for Newton Falls. Tara Backherms had a double for the Tigers. Schiska scattered eight hits and struck out seven for the win.

Inter-Tri County League Meet

Springfield’s Ethan Nezbeth was named Red Tier boys MVP after winning the 200 and 400, and finishing second in the 100. He also was on the winning 800 relay team. Columbiana’s T.J. Carr was the White Tier MVP after winning the 800, 1600 and 3200 and being on the winning 4x800 relay team. McDonald’s Hayden Sloan was the Blue Tier MVP after winning the 100, 200 and 400, and being on the winning 4x400 relay team. Alexis Cunningham was the girls Red Tier MVP for winning the 800, 1600 and 3200. Columbiana’s Madison Stryffler and Izabella Strohecker and Leetonia’s Arianna Russell tied for the White Tier MVP. Mineral Ridge’s Abby Strohmeyer was the Blue Tier MVP. She won the 200 and 400, and was third in the 100. She also was on the third-place 4x400 team. South Range boys won the league’s final Red Tier Meet with 83.5 points. East Palestine was second with 76.5. In the White Tier, Columbiana’s boys team won with 108. Lisbon was second with 86. In the Blue Tier, McDonald’s boys won with 142, followed by Mineral Ridge with 118. In the girls Red Tier, United won with 82 and Springfield was next with 78. In the White Tier, Columbiana’s girls won with 125. Leetonia was second with 78. In the Blue Tier, McDonald’s girls won with 142 and Mineral Ridge was next with 118.
