v “Hairspray,” 7:30 p.m.: The movie-turned-Broadway musical on stage ($15) at Youngstown Playhouse; 330-788-8739.

v Christopher Mark Jones, 7:30 p.m.: Pittsburgh-based singer- songwriter, backed by the Roots Ensemble, and with guest artist Charlie Mosbrook, will perform ($10) at Soap Gallery, 117 S. Champion St., Youngstown.

v The Total Package Trio featuring Frankie B, 8 p.m. to midnight: Vocalist Frankie B has a new song, “Love Is a Dangerous Thing,” that he will perform at the show at Savo Bar and Grill, 2800 South Ave., Youngstown.

“Saturday Night Live” (11:30 P.M., NBC): Melissa McCarthy, who has earned raves on “Saturday Night Live” for her impersonation of White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, returns to the show — this time as host. She’ll be joined by musical guest, HAIM.

“Independent lens” (11:30 P.M., PBS): A series of ordinary places across the United States where prisons affect lives are explored in this documentary titled “The Prison in Twelve Landscapes.”

“Community Connection” (Sunday at 6:30 a.m. on 21 WFMJ-TV and 11 a.m. on WBCB-TV): Eric Barrett, director of the Mahoning County Extension Service, will join host Madonna Chism Pinkard to discuss spring gardening and soil testing.

Next, Joncquil Hope, executive director of Hope Community Services, will discuss the new organization and minority community outreach, including health and nutrition classes for new mothers to help reduce infant mortality.
