Local auto sales up 18.6 percent in April

New and used auto sales were up 18.6 percent in April over April 2016.

There were 5,021 sales of new and used vehicles in April compared with 4,232 in April 2016, according to the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association.

For the year so far, sales are up 11.9 percent. Total sales from January through April are 19,669, up from 17,576 last year.

The top three dealers with the most sales in April were Greenwood Chevrolet, Stadium Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac and Sweeney Chevrolet.

New auto sales in the area were up 30.1 percent to 2,805 in April. New auto sales for the year are up 18.5 percent to 11,384.

Used auto sales in the area were up 7.3 percent to 2,147 in April. Used auto sales for the year are up 3.8 percent to 7,982.
