Division I

Boardman 1, Stow-Munroe Falls 0

Luke Cardillo’s walk-off single scored Gavin Strines in the bottom of the seventh inning, sending the Spartans to next week’s district tournament at Bob Cene Park in Struthers. Noah Land struck out six batters and allowed two hits in five innings. Jared Wilson earned the win with two innings of no-hit ball. Next Thursday, the Spartans will play the winner of Monday’s Akron Ellet/Howland game.

Division IV

Lisbon 1, Southern 0

Justin Sweeney drove in the game’s only run. David Toot had the Blue Devils’ other hit. Logan Bell tossed a two-hit shutout. Lisbon advances to next week’s district at Bob Cene Park. Domanick Michael had both hits for the Indians.

REGULAR SEASON

Poland 10, Jefferson 1

Reed McCreery had three hits including a double and an RBI to lead Poland’s offensive attack. William Aey added three hits and Tony Chiaro had two hits including a double and two RBIs.

Mogadore 8, Niles 6

Niles fell behind 5-1 in the third inning and could not recover. Marco DeFalco had three hits and scored two runs, Damion Coleman had four hits and an RBI and Nicholas Guarnieri had three hits and an RBI for the Dragons. Landon Contant and Tanner Voiers had three RBIs each for Mogadore.

Jackson-Milton 3, Columbiana 0

Eric Ostrowski tossed a five-hitter, striking out seven and walking none for the Bluejays (18-4). Sebastian Lay had three hits and scored a run while Noah Laster hit two doubles. For the Clippers (20-7), Chase Franken’s three hits included two doubles.

Grand Valley 4, Mathews 1

Grand Valley clinched the Northeastern Athletic Conference in a continuation of a game that was suspended on April 27. Logan Newell struck out six to get the victory. Jackson Iceman hit a solo home run for Mathews and was also the game’s losing pitcher.

Molly Williams hit an RBI triple and Allison Smith had two singles and a double for Champion (24-0). McKenzie Zigmont hit a double and was the winning pitcher for the Flashes. Hannah Smith hit a solo home run for Garfield (12-8).

South Range 13, Crestview 0

Caragyn Yanek excelled from both sides of the plate for South Range in a sectional final. She had three RBIs on two hits and struck out nine on the mound, walking two and giving up two singles. Morgan Smith hit a solo home run and Felicia Gaeta and Drew Feren each had two RBIs. Hope Thomas knocked in a run on three hits for the Raiders. On Thursday, South Range (16-4) will play Monday’s winner of Cardinal Mooney and Waterloo.

Brookfield 5, Grand Valley 4

Ella Simcox hit a walk off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game for Brookfield (11-5). Simcox went 4-4 at the plate, with three RBIs. Kenzie Drapola also homered for the Warriors. Brookfield will take on Champion on Thursday at 3 p.m. at LaBrae High School in a district semifinal matchup.

REGULAR SEASON

Canfield 16, Howland 4

Kalin Kovach hit a grand slam and finished with six RBIs as the Cardinals (16-4, 8-1 All-American Conference Red) clinched the league crown. Bridget Durkin (11-3) tossed a five-hitter, striking out three and walking none. Ally Sammarco had three hits while Maura Kennedy and Kaili Gross each had two. For Howland, Sara Price drove in four runs with two hits that included a three-run homer.

Richmond Edison 2, Lisbon 0

The Lisbon offense mustered just two hits and couldn’t get on the scoreboard. Karlee Pezzano and Kennedy Vrable were the only Blue Devils to record hits.

West Branch 10, Canton South 0

Kelsey Byers pitched five innings with six strikeouts allowing only one hit. Byers also had two hits in the contest. Grace Heath had two hits and a home run for West Branch.
