Bella Sera event to benefit Oblate Sisters

YOUNGSTOWN

The third annual Bella Sera event is planned from 6 to 11 p.m. June 3 at the social hall of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel Ave.

The Auxiliary of the Oblate Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is hosting the event to benefit the ministries of the sisters.

After appetizers, a sit-down dinner of Italian cuisine will begin at 7 p.m.

After dinner, there will be dancing to the music of Pino Marelli.

Prizes will be available to win through raffles.

Tickets are $50 per person or $95 per couple with a cash bar that will include Italian wine.

Tickets must be purchased in advance; tickets will not be sold at the door.

Parish mission planned

YOUNGSTOWN

St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, 240 Tod Lane, will celebrate a parish mission as the Easter season draws to a close.

The Rev. Michael G. Woost will preside at the 4 p.m. Mass next Saturday and also will preach at the 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Masses on May 21. He will conduct the parish mission from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 21-23, with Scripture readings, prayer and hymns as well as reflections.

The public is invited to attend.

A reception in Vincentian Hall in the church will follow the last session for all who attend.

Preparation class

St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., will host a Parent Preparation Class for Baptism of their child.

The class will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Rosetta Hall.

Musical celebration

Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave., will present “Come, Christians, Join to Sing-A Musical Celebration” at 6:30 p.m. May 21.

The program will be directed by Steve Pridon. Also featured will be Kathryn Dick on saxophone, Elizabeth Shewell on flute and soloist Cindy Houston.

Desserts and beverages will be served after the concert in the fellowship hall.

Speaker at St. Charles

Chris Stefanick, world-renowned Catholic author and speaker, will present an event called REBOOT! Live! at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at St. Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive.

A number of parishes are involved in helping St. Charles sponsor the event, including St. Dominic, St. Michael and St. Rose parishes.
