Warren woman to spend 27 more days in jail for sex with dog

WARREN
Amber L. Finney of Ward Avenue Northwest pleaded no contest Thursday in Warren Municipal Court to engaging in sexual conduct with a dog and was ordered to serve 27 days in jail.
Finney, 33, who already has served 33 days, also received five years’ probation. Among the conditions of probation are that she must not possess any animals.
She also has been ordered to meet with counselors and address substance-abuse issues.
Finney becomes the first person convicted under Warren’s bestiality ordinance, which was approved by city council last June.
The law came about after Salvador Rendon, 61, also of Ward Avenue Northwest, was charged earlier in 2016 with animal cruelty for having sex with his daughter’s boxer dogs.
Rendon later was convicted of animal cruelty and will remain on probation through 2021. He also cannot possess any animals.
Warren became the first city in Ohio to enact a bestiality law. The Ohio Legislature later enacted a statewide bestiality law that is in effect.
Finney’s charge resulted from an investigation by the Warren Police Department after it received a complaint Jan. 24 and other complaints indicating that Finney could be seen on an internet video having sex with a dog.
Detective Nick Carney of the Warren Police Department has said he didn’t know how the video was produced or who posted it on the internet.
Finney was charged under the bestiality ordinance in January, but she couldn’t be found to face the charges until employees at a West Side pharmacy spotted her last month and called 911, saying they recognized Finney as the woman “on TV that got in trouble with animals.”
Police later found her in the basement of her home and took her into custody.
Finney’s internet video showing her having sex with a dog was not her first time getting attention for a sexual situation involving an animal.
In 2009, a Cleveland TV reporter did a story about a woman who had come to the police station to give a detective an unsolicited character reference for David Martin, who later was given the death penalty for a Warren murder and attempted murder.
The woman was Finney.
The story included a video that came from the cameras in the police interview room. The footage, shot from above Finney’s head, showed her cleavage, and during the conversation, a small squirrel popped out from between her breasts.
Warren police Detective Wayne Mackey said Finney explained that she had found the baby squirrel and was taking care of it.
The YouTube video has had more than 300,000 views, and True TV also picked up the story and ran a segment on it.
In the YouTube video, Mackey said he noticed the squirrel but didn’t acknowledge it.
