Nick Shiley went 2-for-3 with three runs scored in McDonald’s sectional final win. Dylan Portolese had four RBIs while Zach Nolf had two RBIs as well. Cole Corbin went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored for Wellsville. The Blue Devils will play either Western Reserve or Sebring in a district semifinal Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Cene Park.

Winning Pitcher Anthony Oulton tossed a two-hitter, striking out seven and walking one. Oulton, Ian DeGaten and Mitch Goff each had two hits. Oulton drove in four runs while Goff doubled and drove in two. DeGaten, Jackson Iceman and Gabe Canter also had two RBIs.

Nicholas Guarnieri and Joseph Gallo each had two hits and an RBI for Niles. Tyler Srbinovich recorded a hit along with striking out six batters on the mound.

Winning pitcher Cait Kelm struck out 11 and walked four while Avery Steiner scored twice for the Bulldogs. Kylee Mann drove in two runs. Salem’s Taylor Thorpe struck out eight, walked two and allowed one earned run. Clara Janofa and Sydney Kline each had hits for the Quakers.

Jordan Kenneally was dominate on both sides of the game for Ursuline. Offensively Kenneally had two hits and batted in five runs. She was also the winning pitcher, allowing just one hit and striking out four. Caroline Aey had three hits and Macy Ross added two hits for the Irish. Ursuline will take on Springfield today at 4:30 p.m. in Springfield in a sectional final.

Mooney (13-6) scored the winning run in the 7th when Conchetta Rinaldi led off with a triple and beat the throw home on Bridget Sweeney’s RBI grounder. Sweeney had all four RBIs for Mooney. Bella Stanko doubled, and Rinaldi and Sweeney each had 2 hits. Kayla Rutherford struck out 12 for the Cardinals.

Canfield qualified five players for district play next week at Springside in Akron. They will play in the semi-finals on Saturday at Weis Park in Canton. Thursday, Tim Cianciola defeated Salic Purandare of Wooster 6-2, 6-2. In doubles action, the team of Bobby Long and Sirin Nallvri beat Andy Hoover and Christian Kelley from Lake 6-1, 6-1. Dylan Todd and Rajan Taneja beat the Massillon Washington duo of Ethan Scheck and Kevin Echelberry 6-0, 6-0.
Division II
The seeded singles players won their quarterfinal matches at Boardman High School to advance to Saturday’s championships. Top seed Greg Morgione (Ursuline) defeated Jordan Brown (West Branch), 6-0, 6-0. Second seed Jake McDivitt (Lakeview) defeated Nate Nord (Poland), 6-2, 6-2. Third seed Armand Nannicola (Ursuline) defeated Marshall Nay (West Branch), 6-1, 6-3. Number four Andrew Engartner (Cardinal Mooney) defeated Hunter Dickson (Lakeview), 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. The winners advance to next week’s district tournament.
