POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard and Liberty:
GIRARD
May 5
Criminal mischief: An East Prospect Street woman alleged that after an argument, her daughter slammed and damaged a screen door while storming out of the home. Damage came to $180.
Theft by deception: An East Broadway Avenue man told police that after having paid a company $629 to supposedly repair a computer virus, the company contacted him again to offer a full refund but first requested his checking-account number. Soon after, the victim noticed an $820 unauthorized withdrawal had been made.
Overdose: Officers responded to a possible drug overdose at an East Broadway Avenue residence, where they reportedly found a man on the floor who had shallow breathing and was unresponsive. The man was administered Narcan to reverse the effects of opioids before coming to, a report stated.
May 6
Possible overdose: Officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Church Hill Road, where a woman had reportedly overdosed on prescription medication and a man returned to find several empty pill bottles. The woman denied having taken the medication, however, she told police.
Theft: A Beechwood Drive man reported his car had been ransacked and that $7 was missing.
Recovered property: Youngstown police found a 2014 Ford Escape after a Morris Avenue man had reported the car stolen.
Recovered property: A 2013 Ford Escape was discovered at an apartment complex near Shannon and Church Hill roads after two people had reportedly stolen the vehicle in the 1100 block of Gary Avenue.
May 7
Arrest: After reportedly seeing a woman lying face down in a parking lot on South State Street, officers charged Diana D. Thompson, 48, of Youngstown-Kingsville Road, Vienna, with disorderly conduct while intoxicated. Thompson also went on a tirade, a report showed.
Trespassing: Officers received a complaint regarding a broken-down four-wheel vehicle near West Liberty Street before issuing summonses charging Connor R. Fagan, 19, of Hyde-Oakfield Road, Brookfield, and Daniel J. Hite, 22, of Shaffer Road Northwest, Warren, with criminal trespassing. The two men were on private property near a set of railroad tracks, police said.
Menacing: A woman said a man has slowly driven past her Girard home and called her derogatory names, apparently in response to the accuser having contacted police about a theft.
Theft: A Church Hill Road man alleged his former wife had stolen a $500 gold chain from him.
May 8
Arrest: Police arrested James L. Probst of North Lorain Avenue, Girard, as he walked on U.S. Route 422. Probst, 55, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant accusing him of failing to appear on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.
Auto theft: A 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was stolen in the 200 block of South Davis Street.
Aggravated assault: A man told authorities he had been struck in the face and knocked unconscious at a residence in the 800 block of Highland Avenue, then awoke to someone choking him. The victim was hospitalized for a possible broken jawbone and complained of vision problems in one eye, a report stated.
Harassment: A Washington Avenue man said his former spouse had made three calls in which she reportedly threatened to have him harmed.
May 9
Criminal mischief: An officer reported that while on routine patrol in the 400 block of Hartzell Avenue, he noticed a broken window that likely had been shot with a BB or a pellet.

May 5
Identity theft: A James Lane woman noticed three fraudulent transactions to her debit-card account that totaled $411.
May 6
Arrest: The Ohio State Highway Patrol handed Kejuan L. Clay, 24, to township police. Clay, of Parmelee Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on an outstanding Girard Municipal Court warrant.
Arrest: Police answered a call pertaining to someone causing a scene at an East Liberty Street motel, then charged Alvin J. Jackson, 28, with disorderly conduct, obstructing official business and resisting arrest after officers said they had approached what appeared to be an intoxicated person who became aggressive and failed to comply with their commands. Authorities also had to use a stun gun because the Columbus man fought with and continued to resist officers, they said.
Possible auto theft: A Church Hill-Hubbard Road woman said she felt her 2001 Chevrolet likely was stolen after assuming it had been repossessed and being told by a vehicle-recovery business that they had not removed the car.
Drugs: While responding to a car alarm in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive, authorities charged Jovan Labooth Sr., 34, of Green Acres, Liberty, with possession of crack cocaine, marijuana, cocaine and criminal tools. Found in the vehicle were a large bag of suspected marijuana as well as bags of suspected crack cocaine and cocaine, along with a digital scale, a report alleged.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a garage in the 900 block of Chrysann Drive, then removed a cordless drill, weed and hedge trimmers and a leaf blower, resulting in a $530 loss.
Menacing: A man told officers a Girard man, 32, has for several weeks continually driven past his Youngstown-Hubbard Road yelling threats, profanities and crude remarks.
Theft by deception: An official with Rental Corral, 1530 Gypsy Lane, reported a 37-year-old Campbell woman had rented a $1,500 steam-cleaning machine but failed to return it.
May 7
Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail picked up Matthew N. Maker, 26, of North Avenue, Lowellville. He was wanted on a township warrant.
Breaking and entering: A Pinecrest Drive woman discovered a self-propelled lawn mower missing from an unlocked shed someone had entered.
Menacing: A Vienna man alleged his former wife’s boyfriend had made an indirect threat against him while they were at a home in the 600 block of Goist Lane.
May 8
Arrest: A traffic stop on Belmont Avenue led to the arrest of Christopher Vadala, 22, of East Water Street, Hubbard, on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and operating a vehicle impaired after police said they found an unloaded handgun on the passenger seat for which he reportedly had no concealed-carry permit. Vadala also had a 0.103 blood-alcohol content, which slightly exceeds Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report showed.
May 9
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a residence in the 2600 block of Homestead Road via the front door before taking $3,800 worth of jewelry, money, copper, tools and clothing.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 20 block of Colonial Drive through a bedroom window that had been pushed open. Stolen were two TVs, a computer-game system and an Xbox game.
Assault: A Youngstown woman said she was in a physical altercation with several people near a Belmont Avenue motel.
