Facing drug charges

AUSTINTOWN

A man who refused to cooperate with officers was arrested on a charge of possession of drugs Wednesday, according to a report.

Police stopped a vehicle that pulled into a driveway on Edgehill Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. Terry Stewart, 38, of Austintown, a passenger in the vehicle, reportedly stepped out of the car and refused officer’s commands to get back in the car, claiming he didn’t need to because he was on his own property.

An officer said Stewart was unruly and held on to a wire attached to his house while refusing to cooperate with officers. According to the report, at one point, Stewart told police, “I don’t have anything on me. You can check.”

An officer searched Stewart, purportedly finding a glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue and a tablet of Lorazepam, an anti-anxiety drug, concealed in a pill bottle.

Stewart is charged with obstructing official business, possession of drugs and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Boil-water advisory

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Water Department experienced a water-pressure problem after a contractor hit a major distribution waterline Wednesday. This issue affected customers on the West Side of Youngstown and east side of Austintown.

Because of the low water pressure that resulted, the water department is recommending customers in the affected area boil water used for drinking and cooking. A roiling boil for one minute is adequate.
