Chemical Bank employees used their banking knowledge last month to encourage and inspire more than 8,800 students in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana to become lifelong savers as part of National Financial Literacy Month and National Teach Children to Save Day.

Employment training

The Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership, 1325 Fifth Ave., has scheduled the dates and times of its information sessions for the Employment Skills and Training Program of 2017.

They are: 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. today; Monday-Thursday; and May 22-May 25.

The information sessions give an outline of what is covered in the class, details of the program and what is expected from each participant. Candidates interested in the first free training class scheduled to begin May 31 must attend only one of the informational sessions. Class space is limited.

New contract

WARREN

Union members at Ohio Star Forge Co., an automotive supplier in Warren, ratified a new, six-year contract Wednesday. The 83-member United Steel Workers Local 2243 overwhelmingly voted in favor of the agreement. The vote count was 69 voting yes and 11 voting no.

The agreement includes wage increases, increases in vacation, holiday time and personal time and a $1,500 signing bonus, a union official said.

Bike to Work

WARREN

The Bike to Work Warren Committee will have the sixth annual Bike to Work breakfast event May 19. Residents and employees of Trumbull County are invited to bike to work or elsewhere, stopping for a free continental breakfast at the Log Cabin West of Courthouse Square in Warren from 6 to 9 a.m. T-shirts will be available to the first 100 cyclists with the opportunity to win other prizes and giveaway items.
