BASEBALL

DIVISION II DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

Poland 10, Ursuline 0

Dan Klase allowed just two hits in the five-inning game while adding a double and an RBI to propel Poland to a district semifinal against Canfield Monday at 4 p.m. at Cene Park. Barden Olson had a three-run triple while Don Drummond had a double and two RBIs. Pad O’Shaughnessy and Cole Kosco each had two hits as well. Vince Armeni and Colgan Knox had the two hits for Ursuline.

Canfield 2, Salem 1

Jack Rafoth struck out nine batters and pitched six innings for Canfield. Rafoth gave up five hits and no earned runs. Ian McGraw finished the game, striking out one, and converting the save opportunity for the Cardinals. Offensively, Alex Hernandez had two hits and two RBIs on a two run homerun. Canfield will face Poland in a district semifinal on Monday at Cene Park at 4 p.m.

DIVISION III DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

Berkshire 11, Mineral Ridge 10

Jordan Zupko had two hits and Jake Carfolo had two hits and two RBIs for Mineral Ridge.

LaBrae 10, Pymatuning Valley 0

Sam Wells pitched five innings with 10 strikeouts and allowing one hit. Colton Stoneman had two hits, two runs and two RBI’s. JT Wolke chipped in with two RBIs.

REGULAR SEASON

Warren JFK 10, Cleveland Central Catholic 4

Alec Burzynski had two hits and three RBIs for JFK, as they rolled over Central Catholic. Ryan Lee also had three RBIs for the Eagles.

Jackson-Milton 7, Mathews 3

Zack Lane picked up the win in relief, giving up two runs and two walks while striking out one in five innings of work. Noah Laster and Devan Cristoff each had two hits, with Laster collecting two RBIs. Anthony Dalton had a triple among his three hits for Mathews.

Cardinal Mooney 5, Austintown Fitch 4

Antonio Page had two hits and a RBI while also pitching seven innings with three strikeouts. Bryce Ritchey added three hits and a RBI. Chris Lewis and Brennen both had two runs for Cardinal Mooney.

DIVISION I DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

Austintown Fitch 12, Kenston 9

Lainie Simons led the Fitch offense with four hits and three RBIs. McKenzie Luknis added two hits and three RBIs.

DIVISION IV DISTRICT TOURNAMENT

Lisbon 16, Lowellville 2

Devyn Flory led the high powered Lisbon offense with fivr RBIs on four hits, including a triple. Flory also scored three runs. Also powering the Blue Devils offense was Hannah DeLand and Lindsi Welsh with three RBIs each. Lisbon will take on St. Thomas Aquinas on Monday, May 15 at 4:30 p.m. in a district semi-final matchup.

St. Thomas Aquinas 3, Jackson-Milton 2

Sierra Pierce had two hits, an RBI and a run for Jackson-Milton. Korie Gross also had an RBI or the Blue Jays.

Western Reserve 7, Wellsville 5

Layla Woolf struck out eight batters over eight innings for Western Reserve. Woolf added a solo home run on offense, while Maddie Orock had a two run homerun for the Blue Devils. Hunter Weekley homered for Wellsville. Wesern Reserve will take on East Canton on Monday at 6 p.m. at home.

Mathews 3, Windham 1

Bailey Hall knocked in two runs for Mathews and Emily Durkach had an RBI-double. Noelle Migliozzi added two hits. Nicole Watts two-hit Windham, striking out five and walking one. Sabrina Garl had an RBI-triple for Windham. Mathews will face Lordstown on May 15 at 4:30 p.m. at Candlelight Knolls.

McDonald 10, Badger 0

Cheyenne Titus pitched five innings with nine strikeouts, she also had two RBIs and a run. Kris Kelly had three hits and three runs. Rachel Ward had three hits and four RBI’s for McDonald. In the Division 4 Sectional final.

REGULAR SEASON

Boardman 4, Canfield 2

Lauren Gabriele pitched a complete game for Boardman, earning the win. Gabriele also dominated at the plate, knocking in all four Boardman runs. Gabriele, Ashley Cornelius, Lauren Pavlansky and Alicia Saxton had two hits each for the Spartans. Canfield was led by Jenna Gibson with two hits and a triple from Sidney Lambert.

Cardinal Mooney 21, Crestview 2

Mooney had 12 players with base hits in the Cardinals’ (12-5) 18-hit attack. Kayla Rutherford and Conchetta Rinaldi had 3 each while Kelly Williams, Bridget Sweeney and Adrianna Popovich each had two hits. Rutherford struck out seven and allowed two hits in four innings. For the Rebels (10-10), MacKenzie Daub had a two-run single.

Hubbard 9, Struthers 1

Morgan Kist had a home run and two RBIs, Athena Smith had two hits and Sydney Newell had a double for Hubbard. Addy Jarvis was the winning pitcher, striking out 13 batters.

Ursuline 12, Poland 9

Gia Caldrone had four hits to lead Ursuline. Jenna O’Hara and Cassandra Hanuschak each doubled and had three RBIs for the Irish. Ally Nottoli had three hits and three RBIs for Poland.

Brookfield 11, Mineral Ridge 3

Gabby Shiska had seven strikeouts for Brookfield also had two hits and two RBIs. Lauren Pesa had two hits including a solo homerun. Bailey Drapola added three hits of her own for Brookfield.

Marlington 10, Salem 0

Maddie Myers had three hits including a homerun. Sarah Chunko also homered for Marlington. Clara Janofa, Katie Moore, Elly Exline and Jessica Slocum each singled for the Quakers.

Springfield 5, East Palestine 3

The Springfield Tigers improved to 18-3 on the season and 5-2 in league play with the 5-3 victory over East Palestine. Molly Pontius led Springfield’s offense with three singles and two runs batted in. Cassie Bacon chipped in with a pair of singles and one RBI. Jacqueline Kish smacked a single and a double, and Marlie Applegarth had a single and drove in two. Lindsey Druschel crushed a double and Nikki Bovo, Josie Applegarth and Brianna Yemma each contributed a single to Springfield’s twelve-hit attack. For East Palestine, Sara Buskirk and Sadie Walker each hit a pair of singles. Taylor Hostetter hit a double and drove in two runs and Alisha Dean hit a triple.

South Range 5, Columbiana 0

South Range was able to give Columbiana their only loss on the season. Megan Rossero pitched five innings with two strikeouts. Caragyn Yanke had three signles and two RBIs. Morgan Smith also had three singles in the win for South Range.
