Violet Miller Gizdic of Miller Family Insurance has completed the certification required to become a Foremost landlord and rental property insurance specialist through Foremost Education.

Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corp. announced that Norma Webb and Terry Louk have received new certifications in their respective fields. Webb has been the Mahoning Valley procurement technical assistance center manager at MVEDC since January 2013. She has successfully completed the Certified Procurement Professional certification through the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers. Louk has been an economic development loan officer with the corporation since April 2012. Louk earned his certification as an economic development finance professional from the National Development Council.

Laura Scotford was named Westminster Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year during the School of Business annual entrepreneurial banquet April 10. Scotford won the award for her outstanding success as an entrepreneur. Scotford, founder of Simply Sensible Ltd. of Poland, graduated from Westminster in 1986 with bachelor’s degree in management science. Founded in 2005, Simply Sensible Ltd. is primarily a manufacturer and eCommerce retailer of Magic Bumpers Foam Child Bed Rails. Magic Bumpers, invented by Scotford, were the first alternative bed rail on the market to eliminate the risk of entrapment caused by traditional metal bed rails.

Simon Roofing, a national commercial roofing manufacturer and installer, recently hired Leanne Ohlin as a national sales assistant at the company’s Boardman headquarters. Ohlin will support Simon Roofing’s national sales staff with growth and development of the company’s roof repair, restoration and replacement services. Ohlin is a graduate of Seattle University and has several years of sales and leasing experience with The Limited, Fairmount Properties and The Cafaro Co.
