The Niles Historical Society will host Larry Brough, local author, for a discussion and book signing at Ward-Thomas Museum, 503 Brown St., at 7 p.m. May 24.

Brough’s book, “The Electric Pullman: A History of the Niles Car & Manufacturing Company,” discusses the manufacturing of railway cars and trolleys in the city from 1901 to 1917. It will be available for purchase for $30.

A $5 donation is requested for admission, and light refreshments will be provided.

Denis Leary: ‘We Don’t Suck’ after all

NEW YORK

Denis Leary is trying to see the glass half-full.

The actor-comedian is following his 2008 best-seller, “Why We Suck,” with the more uplifting “Why We Don’t Suck,” Crown Archetype told The Associated Press last week.

The book is scheduled for November.

According to Crown, Leary will look out on the land of Donald Trump and have a go at the “screaming heads” on television and such matters of urgency as Twitter, Instagram and diet vodka.

Tucker Carlson has 2-book deal

Tucker Carlson’s star isn’t only rising on television.

The Fox News host and longtime conservative commentator has a two-book deal with Threshold Editions, the publisher told The Associated Press last week.

No details were immediately available about the books by Carlson, who has become one of Fox’s biggest names with the departures of Megyn Kelly and Bill O’Reilly.

Carlson is host of Fox’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” and the author of “Politicians, Partisans, and Parasites: My Adventures in Cable News,” which came out in 2003.
