The Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force is asking the public’s help in locating Shalinda Blackmon, 28, who is wanted on an arrest warrant for drug trafficking. Blackmon is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds.

Farm celebration
CANFIELD
White House Fruit Farm will have its annual celebration of Bonnie’s birthday from 12 to 3 p.m. next Saturday.
Bonnie was a border collie, beloved by those who visited White House, who died earlier this year. The farm referred to her as its “official greeter.”
Pet rescue organizations will be at the celebration, and White House will sponsor a portion of three adoptions in Bonnie’s memory. There will also be food and family activities.
Slavic festival
YOUNGSTOWN
In preparation for its seventh annual Simply Slavic festival from noon to midnight June 17 on East Federal Street, organizers are inviting the public to help make the event happen.
Volunteers of every age, skill and ability are welcome. Help is needed for everything from setup and takedown to ticket sales, and assisting in cultural display and children’s areas. Various two-hour shifts are available.
Every volunteer gets free admission, drink tickets and complimentary tickets to the Slavic follow-up dinner afterward.

Crime Watch food, clothing giveaway

East Side Crime Watch at Oak and Fruit streets is having a food and clothing giveaway from 10 a.m. to noon today. Recipients must bring bags and identification.
Toxic-waste drive
CANFIELD
A household hazardous-waste collection will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 20 at the Canfield Fairgrounds, Gate 9. People whose last names begin with the letters A through F are asked to arrive between 9 and 11 a.m., G through N from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and O through Z from 1 to 3 p.m.

Gardens postponed
YOUNGSTOWN
Because of another weekend forecast for rain, Youngstown City School District garden installations is moved to 4 p.m. Monday at all participating schools.
Schools where the gardens will be installed are Chaney, Discovery at Kirkmere, Discovery Transitions to Careers at Volney, East, Harding, Martin Luther King, Paul C. Bunn, Programs of Promise at Wilson, Rayen Early College, Taft, McGuffey and Williamson. The goal will be to make sure garden boxes are appropriately placed and each filled with soil.
Legal aid workshop
Community Legal Aid is offering free workshops for this month through early June in Mahoning, Trumbull, Stark and Summit counties in coming months to anyone who may need legal assistance or who has an interest in various legal topics.
