Heart Reach Neighborhood Ministries will host a golf scramble Monday at Pine Lakes Golf Course, 6233 W. Liberty St.

This is a day of golf, food, prizes and fun to help support the outreach to children in the Mahoning Valley.

Pre-Mother’s Day show

Chapel Concert Series presents vocal music

The Chapel Concert Series will present a free, public afternoon of vocal music from the studio of William Ambert at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive.

The event will include art, songs, musical theater, opera and sacred music and will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Composers will include Puccini, Verdi, Leoncavallo, Bach, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Mark Hayes and others. Singers are Krista Ritz, Matthew Younger, Matthew Benzenhoefer, Samantha Connell and William Ambert. They will be accompanied by Kathryn Miller. A reception will follow.

Ursuline Center to host Michael Morwood

CANFIELD

The Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road, in cooperation with the Midwest Spirituality Center, will host international author and lecturer Michael Morwood for the presentation “Re-Forming: The Call to Be Faithful in Our World,” at 7 p.m. May 17.

An optional dinner will begin at 6 p.m. for $15 with proceeds benefiting the ministries of The Ursuline Center, which include HIV/AIDS Ministry, Sister Jerome’s Mission College Program and the Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Golden Apple Awards recipients announced

The Office of Catholic Schools announced the 2017 winners of the Golden Apple Award.

The recipients are Kristen Clapper, Louis Doenges, Joni Elson, Claire Gatti, Kimberly Gray, Kathleen Holsinger and Susan O’Connor.

The award consists of an unrestricted cash award, a certificate, a Golden Apple paperweight and a Golden Apple lapel pin, which will be presented to the awardees at a dinner May 16 at Youngstown Country Club, 1402 Country Club Drive.

Stan Boney will be the master of ceremonies for the event.

Boardman UMC plans Blessing of the Animals

BOARDMAN

Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., will host a Blessing of the Animals at 11:30 a.m. May 20.

Pastor Jerry will celebrate the connection and blessing between pets and their owners.

The public is asked to make sure cats are in crates, dogs are on a leash and other small animals are in a safe container for their protection.

Angels for Animals and Metro Farms will be in attendance.

The event will take place in the church parking lot.

Services for miscarried or stillborn children

The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown is hosting Memorial Services for Miscarried or Stillborn Children at 2 p.m. May 21 in the chapel of Calvary Cemetery, 248 Belle Vista Ave.

Parents, family, grandparents and other relations of any child lost to miscarriage or stillbirth are encouraged to attend.

Struthers Parkside hosts musical event

Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave., will host a musical celebration at 6:30 p.m. May 21.

The celebration includes Struthers Parkside Choir and Worship Team, Sheet & Tube Brass Quartet, soloist Cindy Houston, Elizabeth Shewell on the flute, Kathryn Dick on the saxophone and Steve Pridon directing.

All donations will benefit the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.

Desserts and beverages will follow the program.

100th anniversary

Pat Montandon set to speak at Holiday Inn

New York Times best-selling author, philanthropist and humanitarian Pat Montandon will speak at 7 p.m. May 30 at Holiday Inn Boardman, 7410 South Ave.

This event is being presented by Great Conjunction Spiritual Center as part of their monthly lecture series. Immediately after the lecture, Montandon will be signing copies of her books.

Car show charity event

First Federated Church, 10786 Mahoning Ave., will host a car show charity event to support the food pantry Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard. The show will begin at 12:15 p.m. June 4 and will include food, prizes, free giveaways and a basket raffle. There will be a registration fee of $10 per vehicle.

‘Men of Power’ revival
