Free Comic Book Day will be Saturday at several area comic book shops. The event, now in its 16th year, runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Comic books from Marvel, DC, Image, Valiant, Dark Horse and other publishers will be given to everyone who stops in.
Both All American Cards and Comics locations, 52 Boardman Canfield Road, Boardman, and 161 W. Market St., Warren, will feature local artists selling their work as well as cosplayers.

Warren Flea Market ready to open season
WARREN
The Warren Flea and Farmer’s Market, 428 Main St. SW, will begin its summer season Saturday with its first monthly swap meet. Items will include antiques, memorabilia, cars and parts, furniture, jewelry, tools, garden fresh produce and more. There will also be food, free amusement rides for children and DJ Greg Johnson. Vendor space starts at $5. Food vendors must call 330-399-8298 in advance for reservations. Doors open at 8 a.m. and set-ups start as early as 7:30 a.m. The flea market will be open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through the summer.
Motorcyle photography exhibit at Soap Gallery
YOUNGSTOWN
“Rabbit’s Photographs 1972-2002,” a collection of photographs documenting motorcycle culture by local photographer Rabbit, will go on display Friday at Soap Gallery, 117 S. Champion St., and run for one month. Featuring more than 300 original photos, the show opens with a reception from 5 to 10 p.m. that will feature a several antique, rare and vintage motorcycles, readings and commentary by the artist from his book, music by Patio Furniture, and live demonstrations.
Pioneer Village to open at Beaver Creek park
NEGLEY
Pioneer Village at Beaver Creek State Park will open for the season from noon to 4 p.m. on May 6, with activities for all ages, including a fishing derby for children. Poles and bait will be provided.
Historic Gaston’s Mill will be in operation, grinding wheat, corn and buckwheat, and the finished product will be sold at the Trading Post. A history program on “Cemetery Art” will begin at 1 p.m.
‘Why Me?’ performance

“Why Me?,” a stage play written and directed by Mahoning Valley native Michael Forney, will be presented at 8 p.m. Saturday at Michael Anthony’s Galleria D’Arte, 98 E. State St. Tickets are $35. For information, call the box office at 724-418-4411.
