UAW 1714 says two weeks added to Lordstown shutdown
LORDSTOWN — The United Auto Workers Local 1714 has posted on its Facebook page that there will be two more scheduled weeks of production shutdown this summer at the General Motors Lordstown Assembly Complex.
In addition to having down weeks during the week of June 19 and June 26, production shutdowns are now scheduled for the weeks of July 3 and July 10 to align production with market demand.
Production of the Chevrolet Cruze will resume July 17.
The plant was on a three-week shutdown in March to align with market demand and recently GM said it would produce fewer Cruzes, which will lead to an unknown number of layoffs. The plant lost its third shift in January, costing more than 800 jobs at the plant.
