5-vehicle crash leaves woman, others hurt
NILES
A Warren woman suffered serious injuries and several others suffered minor injuries in a five-vehicle crash about 12:40 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of U.S. Route 422 and North Road.
Officers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Warren Post reported that the initial crash was between a car traveling east on Route 422 approaching North Road driven by Jeremy Dunlap, 30, of Hermitage, Pa., who, as he approached the red traffic light at North Road, failed to yield and struck a sports utility vehicle that was southbound on North Road.
The driver of the SUV, Michele Watson, 49, of Warren, suffered serious injuries and was transported to St. Joseph Warren Hospital, as were two other passengers in her vehicle and Dunlap.
Troopers said the initial impact caused Watson’s vehicle to spin, striking another car that was stopped on Route 422 westbound at North Road and pushing it into a fourth vehicle behind it. A fifth car, also northbound on North Road, was struck by flying debris. The incident remains under investigation by the OSHP.
