Dobbins third-grade students help spread kindness into the community by making Valentine’s Day cards for the residents of Sunrise Assisted Living in Poland.

Stephanie Davis, a Youngstown State University student teacher, has been working with third-grade teacher Marsha Walkama and her students. Poland has recently celebrated the Start with Hello week in the school district and the schools were trying to bring that kindness into the community.

Davis and Walkama worked with the third-grade students to create Valentine’s Day cards for the residents of Sunrise Assisted Living in Poland. Two students, Tim Spellig and Elliana Thompson, were selected to go to Sunrise Assisted Living and deliver the cards to the residents. Spellig and Thompson had the opportunity to meet some of the residents and deliver the cards to them personally.

This community project allowed the students to show the community things they are doing in the school and help spread kindness and awareness.
