SPRING INTO ACTION

When: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

What: This spring gardening workshop offers 13 individual sessions that share new ideas on everything from new and exciting plants to garden art. The sessions will get you excited to do something new in your garden for spring and summer.

DAZZLING FLIGHTS

What: The first of two opportunities to witness the dazzling courtship flight of the woodcock. Easy, 0.5 miles.

Where: McGuffey Wildlife Preserve, McGuffey Road, Coitsville Township.

What: View the night sky through high-powered telescopes with the Mahoning Valley Astronomical Society. A short solar eclipse program is included. Weather dependent.

EAGLE WATCH

When: Sunday, 8 to 9 a.m. or 9 to 10 a.m.

What: Join Jeff Harvey of Wild Birds Unlimited to search to observe bald eagles. Registration required, no drop-ins.

Where: Mill Creek Wildlife Sanctuary, West Calla Road Beaver Township.

WOODLAND WONDERS

When: Sunday, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

What: Join native plant expert Barry Glick for a wild wander into the wonderful world of woodland wildflowers. Plants from Sunshine Farm & Gardens will be for sale. Registration requested, not required. Sponsored by the John S. and Doris M. Andrews Memorial Lecture Series.

MEN’S GARDEN CLUB

When: April 5, 7 to 8 p.m.

What: Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown sponsors speaker Cassie Nespor, curator of the Melnick Medical Museum and University Archives at Youngstown State University. The subject will be on herbal medicines, patent medicines and quack medical devices. Nespor will bring items from the museum to the meeting.
