Township OKs inspection company

Township trustees approved a company to inspect the new main fire station.

Professional Services Industries Inc. will do construction materials testing and observation services at a cost of no more than $15,000, according to the contract agreement Monday with the trustees.

A 2-acre parcel at Market Street and Stadium Drive is the site of the new fire station.

The township hired MS Consultants Inc. of Youngstown to design the station.

The fire station’s groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday.

In other business, trustees adopted a resolution to purchase $19,895.60 of ammunition from Vance’s Law Enforcement for the police department.

Police will use the ammunition for training and qualifications in 2017.

Ursuline plans Education Day

YOUNGSTOWN

Ursuline High School will host its annual fifth- and sixth-grade Education Day from 9:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Friday.

This enrichment day will allow students to participate in special sessions planned by the UHS faculty and coaches.

Sessions relate to high-school courses, programs and sports. Students will attend three sessions of their choosing and a one-act play and will have lunch in the cafeteria.

Education Day is open to any fifth- or sixth-grade student.

LORDSTOWN

Lordstown Board of Public Affairs will have a special meeting at 4 p.m. today. at the Lordstown Administration Building, 1455 Salt Springs Road.

Road to close

LIBERTY

Anderson-Morris Road will be closed April 19 through June 23 due to the Ohio Department of Transportation replacing the bridge over state Route 11.

The recommended detour route is west on Anderson-Morris Road, south on U.S. Route 422, east on Tibbetts-Wick Road, north on Pleasant Valley Road, west on Oriel-Rogers Road.
