A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:
HUBBARD
March 23
Criminal mischief: A worker for a West Liberty Street business reported having seen two dirt-bike riders on a track in the 300 block of Hall Avenue before officers discovered they apparently had entered through a gate. Damage to the track was estimated at $200.
Criminal trespassing: A Duer Court man told police he believed someone had urinated in bushes on his property.
March 24
Harassment: An employee with a Youngstown-Hubbard Road business reported a 21-year-old Boardman man and former friend has made a series of calls in which he threatened to get her terminated.
March 25
Arrest: A traffic stop on South Main Street led to the arrest of David M. McCune, 64, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. McCune, of Smith-Goshen Road, Beloit, had a 0.186 blood-alcohol content, which is more than double Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit, a report showed.
Arrest: While investigating a suspicious car on West Liberty Street, authorities charged Andrew L. Bako, 35, of Youngstown-Hubbard Road, Hubbard, with operating a vehicle impaired. Bako refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test, police said.
Criminal damaging: A man reported that when he stopped at a state Route 304 gas station, he noticed a 1-inch gash in a rear tire, possibly after someone had punctured it with a sharp object.
March 26
Domestic violence: Lawrence Raines Jr., 63, of Roosevelt Drive, Hubbard, was charged with the crime after his daughter alleged Raines had pushed her down a set of steps during an argument, presumably about a dog.
LIBERTY
March 24
Arrest: After responding to a vehicular accident on Logan Way, police charged June Slenker, 60, of Logan Way, Liberty, with operating a vehicle impaired.
Fraud: A worker for a Logan Way veterinarian clinic told police a caller claiming to represent Ohio Edison Co. said she owes money on a delinquent account and that the utility would be disconnected if the sum was not paid. The victim bought two money cards that totaled $756 before discovering it was a scam.
Theft: A license plate was stolen off a vehicle in the 40 block of Scott Lane.
Arrest: Police were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to pick up Courtney J. Reynolds, 33, of Gypsy Lane, Youngstown, who was wanted on township warrants related to several traffic cases.
Drug paraphernalia: After checking a car at a Belmont Avenue motel, officers charged John M. Kowacich of Rita Avenue, Youngstown, with possession of drug paraphernalia. Kowacich, 27, had a suspected crack-cocaine pipe, a report said.
Citation: While dealing with a car crash near Trumbull and Belmont avenues, authorities cited Daniel C. Waxler, 63, of Trumbull, Girard, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.
March 25
Arrest: A traffic stop near Hadley Avenue resulted in Jimmy L. Washington’s arrest. Washington, 39, of Trumbull Court, Liberty, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a probation-violation charge.
Auto theft: A 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan vehicle was stolen in the 2900 block of Oakland Drive.
Arrest: Antonio D. Reed, 28, of Homewood Avenue, Warren, was taken into custody after police had pulled him over on Belmont Avenue, then charged with operating a vehicle impaired. Reed’s blood-alcohol content was 0.154, a report stated.
Arrest: While answering a complaint regarding two pit bulls loose in the 1500 block of Millicent Avenue, officers arrested Timothy Morgan, 33, of Millicent Avenue, Hubbard, on warrants from Weathersfield Township. Morgan also was charged with failure to restrain vicious dogs.
March 26
Arrest: Karita N. Boss, 24, of Bentley Avenue, Niles, faced a charge of operating a vehicle impaired after having been pulled over near Gypsy Lane. Boss had a 0.151 blood-alcohol content, a report said.
Drugs: Police charged Everett L. Jackson, 22, with drug abuse during a traffic stop near Gypsy Lane. Jackson, of Dearborn Avenue, Youngstown, had a portion of suspected marijuana, authorities alleged.
Attempted breaking and entering: Someone reportedly has tried on several occasions during the last few weeks to enter a home in the 3300 block of Anderson-Morris Road. Three doors and a window were damaged.
Domestic violence: Jasmine T. Palmer, 24, of Motor Inn Drive, Liberty, was charged after her boyfriend alleged that during an argument, Palmer tried to hit him with a metal towel-rack bar, then bit the accuser’s forearm, stabbed his chest with a small pair of scissors and struck his head with a frying pan.
March 28
Threats: An Oakland Drive woman said a man made general threats toward her.
Arrest: While answering a disturbance call in the 2900 block of Oakland Drive, authorities charged Aquira D.A. Bowers, 18, of Glenwood Avenue, Youngstown, with assault, domestic violence, criminal damaging, resisting arrest and aggravated menacing after an officer alleged Bowers had hit his jaw with her elbow as she pulled away from him and as he tried to arrest her. In addition, Bowers struck a family member’s arm, threatened to kill another family member and damaged a window screen to the second family member’s apartment, a report stated.
Domestic violence: Wayne Holloway, 51, of Squires Court, Liberty, was charged with domestic violence, obstructing official business and resisting arrest after his wife alleged he had made threatening statements to her during an argument related to her job, causing the accuser to fear for her safety. Also, police had to use a stun gun to bring a combative Holloway under control after he had briefly struggled with authorities as they tried to check on a child in the residence, a report showed.
Theft: A charge was pending against a 63-year-old Youngstown man after an Oakland Drive man alleged he stole two TVs from the accuser.
GIRARD
March 26
Breaking and entering: An officer on patrol in the 200 block of Plymouth Avenue noticed the front door to a residence was open. Upon further investigation, he reported a water tank, copper piping and a furnace had been stolen from the vacant home, which also sustained damage.
Theft: An East Kline Street woman reported her daughter’s $80 bicycle had been taken from their front yard.
March 27
Arrest: Police arrested Kevin S. Rowe, 33, of Tod Avenue, Warren. He was wanted on a Girard warrant charging him with a probation violation.
Arrest: Robyn E. Smeltzer, 36, of East Kline Street, Girard, was taken into custody on a city warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court on a disorderly-conduct charge.
March 28
Arrest: After pulling him over near Washington Avenue, police took Matthew T. Snow, 20, into custody on a Weathersfield Township warrant. Snow, of Old Forge Road, Niles, also was charged with falsification when, authorities alleged, he provided a false name.
Menacing: Officers responded to a report that a man who expressed a romantic interest in an employee with a U.S. Route 422 chain store had followed her as she drove to Howland. He was issued a criminal-trespassing warning.
March 29
Theft: A Mohawk Drive woman reported someone entered her car and stole her wallet that contained $50.
