Cause of death pending for 16-month-old boy

NEW CASTLE, PA.

A spokesman for the Allegheny County Medical Examiners Office in Pittsburgh said an autopsy performed Tuesday to determine the cause of death of a 16-month-old Warren boy was inconclusive.

The medical examiner’s spokesman said the boy, Kardiar Williams, who came to the coroner’s office Monday, had suffered a brain hemorrhage. He said the cause of death is pending further testing.

The medical examiner’s office reported the boy died Monday while undergoing surgery at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC as result of an incident at Oakleaf Gardens on Pin Oak Drive in New Castle.

According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, the child was found unresponsive in the home of his father, who was watching him at the time. No charges have been filed in the case.

Both got out of the car and fled. The victims went to the BP gas station on East Market Street and called police.

Shot at while driving

WARREN

A city man, 25, reported being shot at while driving his fiancee’s car at 1:05 a.m. Tuesday on Federal Street Northwest. The shot broke the rear window of the car.

The driver said he drove to pick up his fiancee from work. They parked on Peace Street Northwest so they could look at the damage to the car.

A green Kia Soul had backed out of a parking space, and three males wearing masks and dark clothing came out from behind a building and fired at the Kia, which drove off.

No other damage was observed except for the rear window of the fiancee’s car, police said.

Two shell casings were recovered from the parking lot area.

‘Disturbing letter’

WARREN

The Warren Police Department took a report from a staff member at Warren G. Harding High School on Monday morning who said a student left a “disturbing letter” on her desk March 15.

The staff member told a school resource officer about it at 8 a.m. Monday.

Assaulted in bedroom

WARREN

A man and woman, both 26, reported being robbed and assaulted in the bedroom of their home on Woodland Street Northeast at 10:30 p.m. Monday.

The woman told police she awoke to a noise in the bedroom and saw a man, who took a blanket from the bed and put it over her boyfriend’s head and assaulted him.

The woman said she yelled for the man to stop, and he punched her in the face.

As he left the room, the woman started to dial 911, but the suspect wrestled the phone away from her and ran out of the house.

The woman called 911 from another phone and reported the incident, but it took 90 minutes for police to arrive because police were tied up on a shooting, a police report said.
