Workshop offered

YOUNGSTOWN

The Minority Business Assistance Center and the Mahoning Valley Procurement Technical Assistance Center will host a workshop aimed at getting local small businesses pre-qualified with IAP Services, which has the State of Ohio Facility Maintenance, Repair and Minor Construction Work Contract and issues work orders to pre-qualified businesses.

ATHENA Awards

Lawrence Mercer ATHENA will have The Fifth Annual ATHENA Leadership Awards Celebration from 5:30 to 9 p.m. April 18 at the New Castle Country Club, 511 Country Club Drive.

Eleven local women will be honored at the event. Those honored will be recognized for advancing the cause of women in leadership who have demonstrated excellence, creativity and initiative in their community and profession.

Cracker plant talk

Sharon, PA.

Penn State Shenango will host “An Evening in Conversation: The Impact of a Cracker Plant” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 4 in the campus Auditorium located on Shenango Avenue in downtown Sharon. Dan Brockett, educator, Penn State Extension, will be the featured speaker at the event. Tom Page from WallacePancher Group, WPG, along with Brockett, will have a discussion after the presentation to discuss and take questions regarding the benefits of a cracker plant in the region. A networking opportunity with light refreshments will start at 5:30 p.m. The event is free.

Swizzle Stick Day

SHARON, Pa.

Daffin’s Candies will have its annual open house and “Swizzle Stick Sunday” from noon to 4 p.m. next Sunday at 496 E. State St. “Swizzle Stick Day” has been a family tradition for decades. Thousands of guests will receive a free tour of the chocolate factory on Spearman Avenue and free samples of Daffin’s handcrafted chocolate.
