Power restored

Power restored

YOUNGSTOWN

Power was restored to some customers about 1:30 p.m. Saturday after it was cut off when a car struck a utility pole on South Avenue across from Cameron Street on the South Side a few blocks away from the Interstate 680 ramp earlier in the day.

A witness told 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, the driver seemed to be intoxicated at the time of the accident, then fled the scene. Police helped close off a part of the road to allow Ohio Edison crews to replace the pole and restore power for about 30 customers.

Community input about schools

YOUNGSTOWN

People have two more opportunities to offer their opinions about what the future Youngstown City Schools will look like.

CEO Krish Mohip said community input meetings will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Harding Elementary School, 1903 Cordova Ave., and at 7 p.m. Thursday at Martin Luther King Elementary School, 2724 Mariner Ave. These meetings follow three last week in which parents, students, families, employees and the public could let Mohip know their views as he decides if any changes will be made for the coming school year.
