Latone, Booth power Penguins

Youngstown State’s Dylan Latone, Ryan Booth and Collin Harden fared well on Friday and Saturday at the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State at the Paul Derr Track.

Booth won the shot put with a throw of 17.47m while Latone was second in the pole vault.

Harden qualified for the USATF Outdoor Junior National Championships with a time of 52.80 seconds in the 400m hurdles. Harden finished second in the event behind North Carolina State’s Rilwan Alowonle.

Michelle Klim ran a 17:43.49 in the 5,000m run while McKinsie Klim was just behind at 17:47.78.

For the men, Alan Burns ran a 14:54.36 in the 5,000m while Dylan Dombi posted a 15:07.80 and Tristan Dahmen clocked a 15:19.74.

Tim Holzapfel was the top finisher in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.79 seconds while Harden ran a time of 15.68 in the event.

For the women, Amber Eles placed 12th with a time of 14.45 seconds in the 100m hurdles. Taylor McDonald ran a time of 14.87 seconds in the 100m hurdles.

Carl Zallow ran a time of 10.94 seconds while Josh Beaumont clocked an 11.03 seconds in the 100m dash. Freshman Jaliyah Elliott finished seventh in the 100m dash with a time of 11.96 seconds while Taylor Thompkins was 13th with a time of 12.10 seconds.

In the 400m, Brendon Lucas opened his outdoor season with a run of 49.44 seconds. For the women, Keishawnna Burts posted a time of 57.35 seconds.

In the 5,000m, Ryan Sullivan posted a career-best time of 14:28.44. His time was just six seconds behind Eric Rupe’s school record.

Booth won the shot put with a throw of 17.47m. That toss was just .07m off his career-best effort.

Taylor McDonald posted a time of 1:00.48 finishing fourth in the women’s 400m hurdles. The women’s 4x100 relay team clocked a time of 47.21 seconds.

In the javelin, Tyler Donati placed ninth with a throw of 60.90m while Jake Wilson had a throw of 59.71m in the event. Matthew Monroe had a heave of 53.36m in the hammer throw.
