The Vindicator will run a listing of area services that are open to the public in observance of Palm Sunday, April 9; Holy Thursday, April 13; Good Friday, April 14; Holy Saturday, April 15; and Easter, April 16. The deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. Tuesday. Publication will be April 1.

Information should include the denomination and name of the church, address, city or suburb, the day, time, type of service, your name and a phone number for verification.

‘Stepping Out on Faith’

YOUNGSTOWN

The Total Praise Choir of The Alpha & Omega First Baptist Church, 3120 Winton Ave., will host its annual musical celebration at 4 p.m. Sunday. This year’s theme is “Stepping Out on Faith.”

The musical will feature choirs, soloists and musicians from the Youngstown and surrounding areas. Raymond Mason is the senior pastor.

Annual Sister’s Day

Mount Olive FBH Church, 124 W. Marion Ave., will have its annual mission Sister’s Day on Sunday.

The morning speaker, evangelist the Rev. Mary Revere, will begin at 11:30 a.m. The afternoon speaker, Pastor Edie Smith, will speak at 3:30 p.m. The church will also be celebrating Friends and Family Day. Everyone is welcome.

Bishop Nevels fete

GIRARD

The clergy, community and congregations of Youngstown invite the public to celebrate the birthday of Bishop Emmitt L. Nevels Sr. at 6 p.m. Friday at Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St.

The celebration is titled “Generations of Grace Birthday Banquet” and will feature special musical guest Elder Mark T. Jackson and Final Call. Tickets are available for $50. For tickets and souvenir book ad information, contact 330-510-7888.

Citywide conference and revival April 2-4

YOUNGSTOWN

Union Baptist Church, 528 Lincoln Ave., will host the Baptist Pastors’ Council of Youngstown and Vicinity’s annual citywide conference and revival. The revival services will take place beginning at 6 nightly April 2-4 and will feature Pastor Ed Cryer of Cleveland.

Workshop sessions will take place at 6 p.m. April 3-4, with services to follow, and will feature lecturer and facilitator Pastor James Bowie from Greater Friendship Baptist Church.

The Rev. Michael H. Harrison Sr. is the host pastor.

Thomas Sauline to speak at Lenten supper

YOUNGSTOWN

St. Edward Catholic Church, 240 Tod Lane, will host a Lenten speaker program beginning at 5:30 p.m. April 4. The 21/2-hour program includes Mass, a light Lenten supper, and speaker Thomas Sauline.

The program is titled “The People of God Desire Christian Unity.” Since Vatican II, the Roman Catholic and Protestant churches have made great progress toward Christian unity.

Find out where they’ve been and where they are going in the work for full Christian unity. A free-will offering will be accepted.

Sacred relics exposition

NORTH JACKSON

The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 N. Lipkey Road, will present a teaching and exposition of Sacred Relics at 1 p.m. April 2.

Father Carlos Martins of the Companions of the Cross will teach about these holy objects. He will bring more than 150 relics, some as old as 2,000 years.

MLK commemorative service at courthouse

YOUNGSTOWN

There will be a special commemorative service at noon April 4 to remember Dr. Martin Luther King. The service will take place in the rotunda of the Mahoning County Courthouse, 120 Market Square.

Public invited to celebrate Easter

The congregation of the Corner House Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, invites the public to celebrate the Easter holiday season.

A special collection of 30 pieces of silver will be featured at 10:30 a.m. April 4. Each participant will go forward and present a gift to be used toward the supplies for the back-to-school program in August. Last fall, 200 filled backpacks were given to area students.

At 6 p.m., the church family, friends and community will come together for a live production of “Risen,” a passion play. The performance is free.

Bible Walk excursion

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mother’s Ministry of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 646 Lakewood Ave., Youngstown, invites the public to join it on a one-day Bible Walk excursion.

Those participating will leave the church at 8:45 a.m. April 8. The cost is $50 per person and $25 for children 5 and under. The event will take place at 500 Tingley Ave., Mansfield.

Through Bible Walk, a person is given the opportunity to see, hear, walk through and experience God’s word.
