C.H. Campbell Elementary School students and their families submerged themselves during the school’s annual Spring Fest with lots of games, food and fun March 10.

With the theme ‘Under the Sea,’ students and their families could visit a ‘sunken pirate ship’ and Disney Princess Ariel in the converted school library.

As attendees entered the transformed library, they could visit with Ariel and have their picture taken with her. Ariel also treated the students to a song or two throughout their visit under the sea.

The evening also offered bounce arounds, a photo booth, games, face painting and a Chinese auction, which featured baskets donated from local businesses and classroom baskets with items donated from students and their families.

“We are so lucky to have so many local business willing to donate to our Chinese auction. I think this year we have had the most donations of any year. We really appreciate everyone’s support, including each class at CH which donated a basket and all the families who helped us out with donations,” said C.H. Campbell PTO chair and Spring Fest chair Shannon Eddy.

Spring Fest is a fundraiser for C.H. Campbell and, according to Eddy, proceeds from the event will go toward enhancements to the school’s technology and improvements to the school.

Along with all the fun and games, dinner was served in the cafeteria. Numerous PTO volunteers helped in all aspects of the evening, from selling raffle tickets to helping with the Chinese auction. Several C.H. staffers also donated their time to help with the festival.

“Our PTO volunteers have been great this year. We have so many people willing to help. I think this is the most we have had at Spring Fest. It’s been a great year with all the help we’ve had from volunteers and all the teachers here at CH. They have been very patient with us, and we really appreciate it. We couldn’t do all we do without them,” Eddy said.

Canfield High School National Honor Society members also helped with the event to earn volunteer hours. Canfield High School cheerleaders volunteered at the face painting and temporary tattoo booth. Several Canfield Village Middle School students also helped at the festival.
