Boardman library is displaying art from Boardman students in kindergarten through sixth-grade from March 2-9.

Students in third- through eighth-grade from the St. Charles youth choir kicked off the celebration on March 2 with a performance for guests at the library. The choir was led by Katelyn DeLadurantey, the first-year music teacher at St. Charles.

The students performed pieces from “The Lion King” and have been preparing for two to three weeks. DeLadurantey chose “The Lion King” because it’s something she has done with children before and they loved it.

“They were excited to learn, especially the different language,” said DeLadurantey.

The St. Charles youth choir is an extra-curricular program that takes place outside of the school. The students meet once a week after school to rehearse for different programs they perform at. The Celebration of the Arts event is a tradition for the St. Charles youth choir to attend and perform at.

There were guests who were in the library and came in just to listen to the students perform.

“There were extra people in the lobby who came in and the kids were so excited,” said DeLadurantey.

The Boardman library will replace the current artwork on display with artwork from students in seventh- through twelfth-grade, starting March 16-23.
