Smart Money Picture Bingo
Celebrate Smart Money Week at the Boardman library on April 25 at 7 p.m. and April 26 at 10 a.m. with fun and prizes for the whole family. Picture Bingo for all ages. Each child will receive a piggy bank. Children must be accompanied by an adult to this half-hour program. This is for the family.
Playtime at your library
Prepare for kindergarten through play at the Boardman library on April 12 at 10 a.m. You’ll read a story and have fun with developmentally appropriate games and activities that you can do with your child to help them get ready for Kindergarten. This is for children ages 2-6. All children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult to this one-hour program.
Bonding with babies and books
This event is for caregivers and their little ones who are 6-23 months. There will be 20 minutes of language enrichment including rhymes, songs and stories, followed by time to play and socialize at the Boardman library every Tuesday in April at 10 a.m.
Tales and talk for 2s and 3s
Join the Boardman library on April 5 and 19 at 10 a.m. for developmentally appropriate books, songs, rhymes, finger plays and other activities that will help your child (ages 2-3) become a successful reader.
Lego mindstorms robots, part one
Discover how to build, program and test Lego Mindstorms Robots at the Boardman library on April 13 at from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Children will work through the stages of building and programming the robots. There will be a break to eat, and pizza will be provided. This event is for children in grades 3-7. Call 330-744-8636 to register and ask for the Boardman library, as space is limited.
Boats that float
Hear stories and launch your boat in a one-hour story time for children of all ages at the Boardman library on April 18 at 7 p.m. The boats will be launched outside in the outdoor play area, or indoors if raining. A family program for children of all ages; preschoolers must attend with an adult.
Read to some bunny
Come be a book buddy and read to a licensed therapy rabbit from the Ohio Affiliate of the Bunnies in Baskets at the Boardman library on April 8 at 10 a.m. School-age children are welcome to sit and read out loud for 20 minutes.
Fiction writing workshop
Join the Boardman library on April 19 at 7 p.m. to learn about personal narratives and what the difference is between telling a story and showing a story. Then write your own personal narrative and share it. This event is for teens in grades 7-12.
Teen Advisory Board
Check out the monthly TAB meeting. They meet the first Wednesday of the month at the Boardman library. Help plan and support teen activities at the library on April 5 at 6:30 p.m. Meet new people and have fun. Newcomers are always welcome. This club is for teens in grades 7-12.
Check into chess
Join the Boardman library on April 2 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. as they play chess that afternoon. A family program for all ages. If you would like to learn to play, they’ll be happy to teach you.
It’s all about yarn
Bring in your crochet, knitting, plastic canvas or “anything with yarn” project and learn from one another at the Boardman library on April 21 at 11 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring all yarn UFOs (unfinished objects). This event is for adults.
Google Drive
Learn to use one of the prominent tools in scheduling today at the Boardman library on April 22 at 9:30 a.m. Learn the basics of using Google Calendar including adding events, linking documents, adding and sharing calendars, printing calendars, sending/accepting/declining invitations and color coding. I Read YA! book club
This club is for adult fans of Young Adult literature who are ages 18 and up. Talk about why you like YA at the Boardman library on April 17 at 6:30 p.m. Read and discuss. This month you will be discussing “A Thousand Boy Kisses” by Tillie Cole. This club is for adults.
Reader’s Choice book club
You will discuss “The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper” by Phaedra Patrick. Share your favorite books and find out what new ones are being published at the Boardman library on April 10 at 7 p.m. They will preview May’s book, “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith.
Library closings
All libraries in the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County system will be closed on April 15 and 16.
Brunch and Egg Hunt at Greenbriar
Greenbriar Healthcare Center will be hosting Brunch with The Bunny and Easter Egg Hunt on April 1 at 10 a.m. This event is free and open to the public. The brunch will begin at 10 a.m. at the Greenbriar Healthcare Center and the egg hunt will begin at 11 a.m. The egg hunt will be for children up to age 12. Pulled pork dinner to be April 1
Bethel Lutheran Church will be hosting a fundraising pulled pork dinner on April 1 from 4-7 p.m. This is to benefit the Mikey Schuster Scholarship Fund. Tickets for adults are $10 and $4 for children. The menu includes pulled pork, baked beans, cheesy potatoes, cole slaw, buns, drink and desserts. There is also an alternate menu for children including hot dogs, tater tots and applesauce. Tickets go on sale on March 5.

You will examine other essential tools and the Genealogy and Local History librarian will show you how to connect to these online resources from home in three easy steps at the Boardman library on March 28 at 6:30 p.m. Registration for all programs is required. Pink Ribbon Golf Classic to be July 17
The annual Pink Ribbon Golf Classic will take place at Avalon Lakes Golf and Country Club on July 17. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the American Cancer Society. Ham loaf sale
Boardman United Methodist Church, located at 6809 Market St, in Boardman, will once again be selling their delicious ham loaves on April 4 starting at 1 p.m. and lasting until they are sold out. The loaves will be sold in packages of six for $15. There will be no pre-orders.
