BOARDMAN

Township police made numerous drug-related arrests Tuesday, according to police reports.

In one incident, a citizen flagged down a patrol officer in reference to a man going back and forth between vehicles parked in a shopping plaza Tuesday morning on Doral Drive.

The man, later identified as Timothy Holloway, 33, of Salem, told police he was there to meet his girlfriend at the “pet store.” Township police noted the plaza did not contain a pet store.

He also reportedly gave police an incorrect Social Security number and tried to flee. The citizen who reported the initial incident was an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper and helped police apprehend Holloway.

Holloway faces charges of possessing drug-abuse instruments, possessing drug paraphernalia, obstructing official business and resisting arrest after police reportedly found he had syringes, a shoe lace, a burnt spoon and a pill bottle containing Inositol, which is “commonly used for cutting cocaine and crack and possesses a numbing quality,” police said.

Holloway also had a warrant out of Columbiana County for nonsupport of dependents.

About 2 p.m., officers were dispatched to Plato’s Closet on Boardman-Poland Road after two people told police they tried to sell clothing stolen from Kohl’s at the secondhand clothing store.

Lauren Keryan, 29, of Jacksonville, Fla., was arrested on a theft charge. Keith Ott, 26, of Niles, was arrested on charges of theft and possession of drugs that police said they found on him.

About 9 p.m., police were called to J.C. Penney in Southern Park Mall after an employee found a bag containing contraband in the store.

After Leonard Pitts, 37, of Youngstown, told police the bag belonged to him, they reportedly found syringes, crack pipes, 0.4 grams of suspected crack cocaine, a burnt spoon with residue, a digital scale and Chore Boy – a brand of scouring pad sometimes used for smoking crack cocaine – in the bag.

Pitts was arrested on charges of possessing drug-abuse instruments, drug paraphernalia and drugs.

All suspects are scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court today for an arraignment hearing.
