Sobriety checkpoint

AUSTINTOWN

Four people were charged with operating a vehicle while impaired during a police sobriety checkpoint on Mahoning Avenue at Howard Street.

Members of the Mahoning County OVI Task Force, in collaboration with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, conducted the checkpoint from 10:30 p.m. Friday to 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officers also charged four people for driving under suspension, one for no operator’s license, three for not wearing a seat belt and two for drug abuse.

Tornado drill

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning County’s tornado sirens will wail for three minutes beginning at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday during the statewide tornado drill, the county’s emergency management agency announced.

Parking prohibited

YOUNGSTOWN

Because of construction work by FirstEnergy, parking on the west side of Commerce Street between Walnut Street and Wick Avenue is prohibited until further notice.

Meeting rescheduled

BOARDMAN

The Boardman school board regular meeting scheduled for 6:30 tonight has been rescheduled to 6:30 p.m. Monday. The meeting will take place at Market Street Elementary School, 5555 Market St., Youngstown.
