YOUNGSTOWN

Three mechanical engineering students at Youngstown State University have created 3-D models of NASA spacecraft that are featured in a 50th anniversary display at YSU’s Ward Beecher Planetarium.

Local students whose work is included are Ryan Betts of Boardman, Michael Manginelli of Warren and Dean Jaric of New Springfield.

The students worked in YSU’s Center for Innovation in Additive Manufacturing to create eight 3-D models of NASA spacecraft that have visited nearly every major body in the solar system over the past 60 years. They based their work on plans provided to YSU by NASA.

Civic Day planned

WARREN

The Trumbull County Educational Service Center’s annual civic day for high-school seniors to shadow civic leaders throughout the morning will take place from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Friday.

About 85 students will shadow about 70 civil leaders, then gather for a luncheon program at DiVieste’s banquet room featuring Mike DeWine, Ohio attorney general.

Cemetery cleanup

GIRARD

Spring cleanup at the Girard City Cemetery has been scheduled through April 2 for removal of Christmas decorations from the graves. After April 2, employees will be removing any Christmas decorations in preparation for Easter and Memorial Day.

Final certification

NEWTON FALLS

The Newton Falls Municipal Treatment Court has received final certification from the Ohio Supreme Court’s Commission on Specialized Dockets. This renewed certification is for a three-year term through Dec. 31, 2019.

In order to receive the certification, the court had to reapply, undergo a site visit and provide specific program materials in response to certification standards that went into effect in January 2014.

Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor sent her congratulations to the court and Judge Philip M. Vigorito for receiving final certification.
