Upcycled art contest set April 8 at PSU-Shenango

Staff report

SHARON, PA.

Penn State Shenango, 147 Shenango Ave., will have its Earth Fest upcycled art contest April 8. The event is designed to inspire elementary- and middle-school students to create treasure from trash.

The contest contains two categories, which are open to children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

The first is a small-group project. Teachers, Girl Scout leaders or others who want to put together a small group will need to have their students create a two-dimensional (not to exceed 11 by 14 inches) or three-dimensional (not to exceed a 12-by 12-by-12-inch) piece of artwork.

The second category is reflection on reuse, which requires students to work individually to create a two-dimensional (not to exceed 11 by 14 inchess) or three-dimensional (not to exceed a 12-by-12-by-12-inch) piece of artwork. All materials for the projects must be previously used.

Submissions must include a completed entry form to be dropped off with the art projects between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. the week of March 27 in lecture hall Room 225. Artwork will be displayed in the art gallery in Sharon Hall 222 and must be picked up between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
