South Side man faces drug charges

Police arrested a man on drug charges Thursday after reports said he failed to yield the right of way on a South Side street and almost collided with a cruiser.

Shawta Hasley, 21, of East Boston Avenue, was arraigned Friday in municipal court on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine.

Reports said after Hasley almost caused the collision, police pulled him over about 4 p.m. into a driveway on Pasadena Avenue, where he gave officer a false name.

When he got out of the car, he was searched and the drugs were found, reports said.

His preliminary hearing is set for next Friday in municipal court. Hasley is in the Mahoning County jail.
