Ohio Department of Transportation announces new road restrictions

YOUNGSTOWN

Beginning Monday, state Route 46 north of Western Reserve Road will be closed through mid-April for a culvert replacement, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced in its weekly traffic advisory.

The ODOT-recommended detour is U.S. Route 62 to state Route 165. That portion of Route 46 goes through Beaver, Green and Canfield townships.

This work is the start of a $2.4 million project to resurface Route 46 between the Columbiana County line and the southern Canfield line. The entire project is slated for completion in September.

U.S. Route 62 between Himrod and South avenues in Youngstown remains down to one lane in each direction through May. The work is part of a $17 million project to repair the Route 62 bridge over the Mahoning River, Poland Avenue, Cedar Street, and the railroad. All work is slated to be done by June.

In Trumbull County, Niles-Vienna Road between Smith-Stewart and Scoville-North roads is closed through mid-May for a bridge replacement. ODOT recommends taking Scoville North to state Route 82 for a detour. The work is part of a $1.6 million project to replace multiple bridges in the county.

Interstate 80 at Route 62 and Route 62 under I-80 has ongoing, occasional lane restrictions for pavement repairs and resurfacing as part of a $9.8 million project to resurface route 62 from Hubbard to the Pennsylvania state line.

Numerous lane restrictions and ramp closures continue as part of the I-80 widening project.
