Pi Day Run for Rescue Mission

CANFIELD

The Pi Day Trail Run Challenge, planned by students at the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center to help clients at Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, is Saturday.

The students will use proceeds from the $25 pre-registration fee or the $30 day-of-the-race entry fee to fill their pantry for classes to prepare meals for the Rescue Mission.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the race starts at 10 a.m. The 3.14-mile trail run starts at the MCCTC campus at 7300 N. Palmyra Road and covers pavement, grassy fields and muddy trails. Participants who finish the race will receive pie, and there will be winners in all age groups.

Spring fish sale

Orders are being taken from local pond and lake owners by the Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation District for its annual spring fish sale. The ordering deadline is April 21, and the fish pickup will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 27 at Canfield Fairgrounds. Bishop to visit

Bishop Neofitos Kongai of Nyeri and Mount Kenya of Kenya will visit St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church this evening. Kongai, one of the first African native orthodox bishops, will visit Joe DiStefano at his church on 220 N. Walnut Street. The two became friends and classmates attending Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, Mass., beginning in 2001. DiStefano invited Neofitos a potluck dinner at 6 p.m. at his church and a service at 7 p.m. All visitors are welcome.
