ATHLETIC GROUPS

CLASSES

South High School Class of 1953 will have a monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Johnny’s in Boardman. All classmates and guests are welcome. No reservations are needed. Those interested in attending may call Ray Melewski at 330-792-2434.

South High School Class of 1956 Women will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Davidson’s Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road, Cornersburg. All women from the class and friends are invited to attend.

CLUBS

Friends of the Mahoning River will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at the Oak Hill Collaborative, 507 Oak Hill, Youngstown. Parking is in the rear of the building. Plans will be made for the sixth annual RiverFest on June 3 at the B & O Station. The club mission is to advocate the quality of the Mahoning River. Newcomers of Mahoning Valley will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Davidson’s Restaurant, Cornersburg. A representative of the Veteran’s Administration will be speaking. Members will donate toiletries and non-perishable food to the VA. Nomination of officers for 2017-18 will take place. Holborn Herb Growers Guild will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Colonial Inn at Canfield Fairgrounds. The program, “The Art of Garden Journals,” will be presented by Sue Lambert. LIBRARY FRIENDS

Friends of the Poland Library will meet April 4 at the Poland Library, 311 S. Main St. Coffee hour will be at 9:30 a.m. and the program and business meeting will follow at 10. “The History of 19th Century Fashion” will be presented by Traci Manning. Hostesses will be Pamela Durkin, Mary LouCarbon, Beverly Gibson and Carol McCoy. Donations of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs are accepted at each meeting for the Poland Friends book cart. The meeting is open to the public, and new members are welcome. Membership dues are $10 a year.

POLITICAL CLUBS

Canfield Republican Women’s Club dinner meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 5 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Judge Mary DeGenaro, Ohio 7th District Court of Appeals, will discuss the Constitution and the Judicial Branch. Dinner will be stuffed pork chops, spinach salad, twice-baked potatoes, vegetable and cake for $15 per person. Spouses and friends are encouraged to attend.
