WARREN

Genny M. Lang, 34, of Bellwood Avenue, Niles, pleaded not guilty to drunken driving and other charges Wednesday after being involved in a crash Tuesday in which her son, 8, was a passenger.

She is charged in Warren Municipal Court with child endangering, drunken driving and failure to maintain and assured clear distance. She was released from the Trumbull County Jail on Wednesday after posting $2,500 bond.

Police said the crash took place at 3:27 p.m. on Youngstown Road. Lange hit the back of a vehicle stopped at a red light.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle, a man, 59, and a boy, 11, were both taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Warren Hospital for treatment.

The man said his back hurt, and the boy had a “knot” on his head from hitting the windshield, which cracked, police said.

When an officer approached Lang, she had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcoholic beverage came from her, police said.

Her son was in the back passenger seat and not in a safety belt but said he was OK. His grandmother later picked him up and took him home.

A test later determined Lang’s blood-alcohol level was 0.25, which is more than three times the legal intoxication limit of 0.08.
