Elvis impersonator at Butler museum

YOUNGSTOWN

Mark Lee Pringle of Girard will perform at the Butler Institute of Art, 524 Wick Ave., at 1 p.m. Saturday as part of the “Medieval to Metal” guitar exhibition.

Pringle portrays the early 1950’s Elvis Presley. He will discuss, and perform on, several of his replica guitars that are like the ones Presley used from 1945 to 1957.

The event is free to the public. Parking in the Youngstown State University Wick Avenue deck, across the street, will be free.

Vocal, horn recitals at Bliss Hall at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN

The Dana School of Music will present two free recitals this weekend in Bliss Recital Hall, which is on the lower level of Bliss Hall, on the Youngstown State University campus.

At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 11 students in professor Misook Yun’s vocal studio will perform both classical and contemporary pieces.

At 3 p.m. Sunday, the Dana Horn Studio, directed by Stacie Mickens, will perform, accompanied by Diane Yazvac and Jack Ciarniello.

Parking is available in the Wick Avenue parking deck, which can be accessed from Walnut Street or the P32 surface lot at 100 Wade St.

Patrons are advised to watch for posted detours as construction progresses on Wick Avenue. For information, call 330-941-2307.

Art talk on 3-D printing at Penn State campus

SHARON, PA.

Rebecca Strzelec will give a presentation titled “Art + Engineering = Creative Problem Solving” at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday at Penn State Shenango’s Sharon Hall room 105. The event is free to the public.

Strzelec is a professor of visual arts at Penn State Altoona. Her work focuses on investigating the way wearable objects interact with the surfaces of the body and includes the creation of these objects through 3-D printing.

She has been using 3-D printing technologies in her work since 1999, and her talk will look at the technology’s trajectory.

Strzelec is a traditional bench jeweler who converted to an entirely digital studio practice.
